With your vast knowledge of everything Sharks, do you think Torrey will get sent to the baby Sharks for conditioning?

When I sit and think about it, I get REALLY excited to have him back on the line up. His skill set is going to flourish under "The Todd's" system. He will solidify the 3rd line and give us that extra little oomph the rest of hte season.

And with how well Plihal and Goc have been playing we will just be that much better with him in the line up.

Can't forget to mention the return of Roenick and Shelley :-)

If he is (and I expect him to be), look for it to be after 1/18...the WorSharks are on a 5 day/4 game road trip to places I'm not sure SJ would like one of their top 9 forwards playing.

The weekend prior to the AHL ASG (1/23 & 1/24) Worcester plays two road games that are same-day bus trips against teams that are not as....ummm, "physical" , which gives them a little more control over his rehab.

Says he'll be "ready to go" in about a week, but things could be pushed out to two weeks due to AS break.

Are you nuts The Tank will go CRAZY when he is back on the ice. If Tmac is anything like Ron Wilson (in this regard only), he will probably have him as a starter his first game back so he will be announced.

LS - Thanks for the update.

Mitchell will score ten goals in his first game back. Just unleash his speed and quickness and let him fly all over the ice.

Is it true that players on conditioning assignments affect the NHL cap? I don't know if I heard that somehwere or am just making that up. Do the Sharks have the Cap room to do it since JR is on LTIR

With JR on LTIR they should have cap room.

Yes. They still count against the cap. But if they are on LTIR before the conditioning assignment, they can remain on LTIR. The LTIR space may be used to pay another player (eg Cavanagh, Staubitz, etc.).

Appears that the Sharks do not have to activate Mitchell from LTIR for short conditioning stint with Worcester.
The LTIR "conditioning stint" (which this seems to be) is limited to 3 games or 6 days. I'm guessing that means Philadelphia, Hershey and perhaps one of the Norfolk games.

The hockey guys in SJ know a hell of a lot more about what's going on than I do, but I'm a little surprised they want him anywhere near Philly or Norfolk...

Well, what better way to see if he is game ready than a good physical game. Besides it's not like other NHL players are going to treat him with kid gloves once he returns to the big team.

McGinn, Bernier, McLaren.

But please, not Mitchell.

There is a big difference between a "good physical game" and what's going to be played in Philly and Norfolk.

Fair enough, as I know nothing about Philly or Norfolk.
