What proof do you have of financial problems?

And, as a season ticket holder, I can assure you that the arena is far from "almost empty every game."
I can't find the article right now, but I read a news article that mentioned Tampa's owner was writing off losses from the team against the gains from the land vale around the arena. Something about developing the water front land in the future to help the team to the breakeven point while continuing to profit from the increased land values in addition to rents.

This article was from the summer; before the credit crunch and sub-prime mortgage fiasco so I don't know how things sit now, but if the article was correct management COULD be in a tight position now. Really unless an updated article comes out highlighting the lightnings finances again I wouldn't put any faith in this rumor. All the economic conditions that made for the article have changed and as such so has Tampa's, and only they know right now what's going on within their organization.

if they were in financial troubles, they wouldn't be looking to add salary back. so maybe like:

CBJ:
Lecav

TBL:
1st 09
Filatov
Voracek
+ some mid tier prospect

Fine, I'll try from the Oilers perspective. By the way, I think the Kings could out bid anyone.

to TB:
Gagner
Nilsson
Horcoff
Grebeshkov
Chorney
1st in 2010

To Edm:
Lecavalier
Jokinen

Not bad except I don't see Vinny agreeing on the deal since the Leafs would have nobody left.

You seem to be forgetting the world beating stanley cup winning, 50 goal scoring, rocket richard trophy winning, multiple all star, in his prime center that comes with the 90 million dollar contract.

Not one team in the league would balk at the contract Vinny is on right now. If they had the room and the assets they would be looking to acquire him.

Vinny doesn't have to agree to anything, as far as I know. I understand his NMC doesn't kick in until July? Maybe I'm wrong..

the offer you said would get laughed at is no worse than any other offer in this thread.

As for the contract, not many teams would be able (or willing) to absorb it.

That offer is horrible and has next to nothing that the Lightning need or could use. There are plenty of other offers in this thread that are much better.

As for your second part... would be able to is the question...not whether or not they would be willing. Every team in the league would like Vinny on their team, not only for what he does on the ice but for what he does off of it. He is a ticket seller.

You do understand the fact that Vinny is a elite player in this league and that you are offering quantity over quality. If Vinny is gonna pack his bags for MTL, you can bet your ass that Price is heading the other way. He's the only player that has some sort of value in order for the Habs to fetch someone like Lecavalier from Tampa... and stop putting Halak and O'Byrne in proposals, those guys aren't even ready for a full time spot in the bigs and are looking more and more like "projects" instead of prospects.

To everyone including goalies in your offers...

please stop. That was two years ago. If anything depth at goalie is one of TB's few strengths. I suspect it would take almost an entire starting first line and top 4 Dman to even get the attention of the Lightning front office.
