He seems to be playing well with Langkow, and Rene.
Is he that player that everyone remembers from Vancouver?
I think it was a good signing. He's not really that good defensively, but puts up points and contributes offensively. For the price tag that he comes at, I have no complaints. As far as being the player I remember from Vancouver, not so much, in the sense that he seems like less of a power forward and more of a playmaker. The guy has some great hands. Also seems like he's very well liked in the locker room, so that's great news since a lot of people predicted he'd be a cancer/distraction.
He's been suspect defensivly, but his been a big reason why they have a solid 2nd line (that quite frankily save for the Edm game is actually better than the first line) and for whats he's brought, 2 mill is a bargain. Great signing. I don't think he'll every recapture what he had in Van nor do I expect to. I was thinking that 20/50 was realistic and he is on pace for more than that.
Have really no problems with Bertuzzi. For his price tag he is contributing very well. Seems to have found some good chemistry with Langkow and has been really solid the last two weeks after struggling for quite a while. Good pickup by Sutter.
for the price tag, well worth it and a welcome acquisition, bit of a roller coaster, but last 2 weeks is any sign of what it is to come, he has more upswing in the last half this year, I think he will take it another level. He is competing now, starting to get that edge I was watching him against the Sharks closely and the guy is lying down blocking shots when it was 5-2 flames. This is going to get fun
Bertuzzi has really played great for the flames, i really see him being resigned before cammalleri is (unfortunately) Plus when he really wants to be he i a dominate force on the puck. He has excellent hands and if we could sign him for say 2.5 mil per year i think he would be great to lock down long term.
I like having him on the team, for sure. He's been very good this year, especially for his price tag. But, by no means do I ever want to see him signed long term. He's too old for that course of action. And, if comes down between him or Cammalleri, Cammalleri is the one that should be coming back.
Beginning of the season, he was showing flashes of his old self. Physical, scoring goals, great passing, etc. but went back to being soft after he took that horribly embellished boarding penalty against the Canucks.
