Pavol Demitra Available?

Just curious if this guy's available... one of the most underrated scoring forwards in the sport IMO.

His contract is up soon, so I've heard conjecture he could be a rental.

I would think Weight, KT, and Demitra are all available.

Make an offer.

If I'm Larry Pleau, in exchange for Demitra I want a young, inexpensive NHL forward and a second-round pick or prospect (not necessarily a blue-chipper, but someonw with a legitimate future).

From the Rangers, for example, I'd ask for Jamie Lundmark and Corey Potter, for starters.

From the Islanders, probably Weinhandl and the second-round pick.

Nik Antropov and a 2nd for Demitra?

Nik makes about $1 million.

I'd take that.

In a New York minute.

Antropov isn't really a scoring forward though..

How about (not that the Avs need him really, they need more of a depth guy):

Marek Svatos/Riku Hahl and a 2nd (Florida)?

St. Louis will be 2 points behind LA for the last spot and they still have a game headtohead with LA...they should be buyers not sellers.

why? so they sell some more future to make the playoffs and get the hell beaten out of them.. again...

it only delays any potential stanley cup even further.

yeah playoffs bring in revenue...wait to rebuild post-lockout...selling when your only 2 points out of a playoff spot is ridiculous!!!

2 games of revenue is worth how many more years before a chance at the cup!

selling when you are dropping as fast as the blues are is not! this was there first win in a month!

edit: more like first win in 2 weeks....

trading players like Demitra and Weight won't make it any easier for St. Louis to get the Cup anytime soon.

Add one more player like Rucinsky from NyRangers for prospect/pick and keep the rest of the roster together and go to the playoffs.

No team that is two points out of the playoffs with a headtohead matchup left against the team they are chasing is going to be a seller at the deadline...just not going to happen.

I'm curious as to what you think Antropov is then...

As well, assuming Antropov isn't a scoring forward..do you think guys like Svatos and Hahl are seriously better ?

Agreed, no need to Blow this up. Suppliment with a scorer like Martin Rucinsky. That being said if the right deal came along and we could get players of equal value or a good package back. I would move Demitra or Weight. Keep in mind if we get value back we are not having a firesale and blowing the team up.

The Kings are game every night, but with all the injuries and doubts concerning their goaltending at present, they are ripe to be passed by the Blues. Both teams could make moves between now and Tuesday to make a run at that last playoff spot. Would the Blues throw in the towel as little as two points out of a playoff spot? I suppose we will see in time, but they might be too close to start selling off assets.

Is Demitra willing to be paid in monopoly money?

And what do the Blues get for getting by LA into the 8th spot? A first round matchup with? Probably Detroit. It would be great to this group give Bill Laurie some kind of return on his investment but it's time they stop making decisions based on making the playoffs and start doing what's right to build a serious contender. That being said, I would not 'dump' Demitra or Weight but if you get a solid young NHLer, or top prospect, and a good pick for either, I would do it.

to philadelphia:
Doug Weight

to STL:
Handzus & 1st rndr in 05/Gange & 2nd rndr in 05

or

to Toronto:
Demitra

to STL:
Stajan/Steen and a 1st in 05

Just my Opinion.

How is Demitra going to help TO on D and in Goal? JFJ better place that call to GMGM before Witt and/or Kolzig go the way of Gonchar.

playoff cash $$...and Detroit is as vulnerable for a loss in the first round as anyone(see last year)...then maybe St. Louis gets on a roll and goes further in the playoffs...who knows what happens, just get there...better than getting 9th place.

demitra is te most underated forward i the league, he had 85 pts last year, he had a great start of the season, he was averaging more than a point a game, but recently hes slowed down, just as his team has, puyt him with a contending team, this guy is a clutch player, but i odnt st luis wants 2 get rid of him

Demitra had 93 points last year./ He ranked 6th in the league in points. However, he is not a clutch player(he disappears when things get too rough). I also would not put much into his slow production, the entire team has been bad recently and one guy can't do it all alone. He is worth a solid young player and a high draft pick. I think the Kovalev deal is somewhat compareable but Demitra would get more of a return. He is younger, more productive and about the same price. I'd think Gagne and a 1st/2nd would be about right(don't know that Philly would do that though).

ya ur right 93, what i meant was u cant look at pavol pruduction lately cuaz the hole team is doing bad. idono baout gagne and a 1st
ganes a good oyung player, he isnt considtant, but i think that hes needs some more time 2 be the player that he was expected 2 be, maybe gane and a 3rd or 4th, maybe, or kapanen and a 2nd, is kapanen injured or what up with him
