I guess the notion of "you're only as good as your last game" doesn't apply here.

I have to wonder if there's any link between Henrik's knee (from the offseason) and his early workload that has led to his play of late, and if perhaps the rest would've done him good. It is only a period, but it's really more than that. It's an All Star weekend that could be spent at home relaxing.

He didn't "make" the All-Star team.
This year every team is being represented.
They simply took the biggest star on the Rangers, though he's hardly been playing like a star lately.
Anyway, this guy should be resting during the All-Star break... I don't think he's 100%.
There's an undisclosed injury.

Yea, I can't find a goal tender who has played more games this year then Lundqvist. I'm even wondering if we should go with Valiquette tomorrow against Buffalo and if he has a really good game maybe we can just play him back to back.

I mean just by looking at the stats. I think Valiquette should have played more games this year anyway. Of course, not because he's the bettter goal tender but to give Lundqvist some extra rest.

Actually I'm sorry, Kiprusoff has played in 38 games and Lundqvist is tied with a few other goalies.

Why do you think there is an undisclosed injury. That right there would be a valid reason for him not to go to the all star game.

I could've sworn in years past that several players from the top teams were there, making it impossible to include every team.
I thought it used to be an honor to make the team, I guess not.

There have been teams to go unrepresented in year's past. It's more of an unwritten law than it is a rule.

No! Hank can't go, he'll get hurt...and that will be the end of the Rangers season.

That said, let the tank job for a top 5 pick begin

It makes sense for each team to be represented because the all star game is for the fans. So each city would like to see at least one guy on their team play a bit. Personally, idc, but I can see why they do it.

I know and then we won't win the Stanley Cup. This is a tragedy.

It's funny how most of us here were hoping Henrik wouldn't get picked so that he could get some rest/avoid potential injury, but am I the only one that thinks he wasn't the most deserving on the team? Nik Zherdev should be the Rangers representative this year, both on merit and because he would be an awesome addition to the skills competition.

It's his first ASG, no way he's declining. Brodeur declined what, his one hundredth all-star appearance?

As much as Zherdev was amazing in the first half of the first half, he quieted down quite a bit lately. Also, he's 18th in the east in points, there are plenty of guys ahead of him who probably didn't make it.

Exactly, but there was no way in hades the NHL was not going to select a New York Ranger and lose the major New York City television ratings (not to mention media). His "all-star selection" was a business decision.

Craig Anderson of the Panthers and Scott Clemmenson of the Devils were way more deserving than Lundqvist.

Lundqvist gets unfairly crapped on. The D in front of him is marginal at best (Kalinin AND Redden...same unit? Yikes).

But based on the play as of right now, yeah I'd agree that some were more deserving than Henrik

Agreed, but unfortunately no one cares about those two teams.

IDK about way more deserving. Yes Anderson and Clemmensen have a better save % but don't forget Lundqvist has more wins and had to face many more shots than both of those guys mentioned. So that's kind of an unfair statement.

No offense, but what about the D in front of other goalies who are doing well?
