what a lazy play by Robidas.

He stops skating so Zetterberg can have the inside lane to the net, then pulls him down when he takes that lane.

He's pretty high on my **** list right now.

But the overriding fact is still there. It's an absolute no-lose situation in the eyes of Stars fans. Everything can still be blamed on Turco, no matter what happens in this third period, no matter that the game is all but decided and the style of play has totally changed because of that.
Yeah, what great fortune for Stephan! He gets to play behind a team that's already been beaten.

Urgh, from the goal on out on that goal. They totally can't allow that pass across, even on a power play.

Nope, no chance.

He was still way late in getting over, but the problem is with the allowing of the pass. When you allow that pass, you set your goalie up to fail.

you know the play in the 3rd is largely due to the score, but I guarantee that the horrible officiating in the two earlier periods had something to do with it.

Not surprising to see some frustration when the officiating is a farce.

good job Neal / Sutherby... that's the way to handle Detroit in this situation.

They didn't show a replay on the Detroit channel. What'd he do?

It was a late hit.

That was a crazy deflection, once again no chance.

Center ice/espn360 is showing the same detroit feed unfortunately.

There's the two on Stephan. Pretty much the same as the rest of the game has gone. Bad defense by Riberio, and Stephan had a pretty good clean look at it but couldn't adjust.

This whole team just blows tonight.

Pretty clean look at a perfect deflection going extremely fast? What?

He does that.

Your definition of "chance" changes by the goalie it seems. I agree he had very little chance of making that stop (a Grade A chance, if you will), but you would have been calling for Turco's head on that one and the previous one.

Whatever, **** Turco, play Stephan, it's this team's only chance.

It wasn't screened, basically. He had a look at the initial shot and where it was going.

It would have had to have been a spectacular save, and it's not his fault that Ribeiro left the stick down on the ice. But you expect Turco to make those saves, so we might as well expect them out of the other guy, right?

If this team continues to play like this, they don't have a chance no matter who's in net.

I dunno...

I'm done defending this team until they're actually in a playoff spot.

I keep on thinking things are getting better, but honestly this might be the worst effort of the season (and that's saying alot).

so frustrating

That doesn't even make any sense. He had a look at where the initial shot was going? So he's expected to save the significant change in direction that goes right into the top corner? There's no chance in hell Turco stops either of those goals.

They're playing this way because they have no confidence in Turco.

so when does Tom Hicks get involved?

I've always been of the impression that he lets the people in charge of the team do whatever they want so long as the results were there.. I can't see him being very pleased that yet another one of his teams is turning into a joke.

maybe getting rid of Brett Hull shakes the cob-webs out of these guys heads. Maybe if they don't have their buddy up in the GM box they'll start actually playing some hockey.

Didn't see the first goal (for some reason, I thought this was a 7:30 start, so when I checked at 6:45 I was surprised).
Sydor screened Turco.

You've expected him to make saves that were tipped right at the top of his crease with a significant chance in direction before.

Look, I don't think Stephan had a shot at either of his two allowed so far. I didn't see the first one, and of the other I thought Turco only had a legit shot at the fourth, and that one really developed from a Parrish mistake and failure to recover.

What you're ignoring is that this is a team problem that, yes, Turco plays a part it. Stephan has played a part in it too, though to a much, much more limited extent. But there is a huge, even the most significant, part of the problem that starts and ends with the skaters in front of them.
