What a terribly written article, totally unprofessional sensationalism. He makes it sound like the Canucks screwed up big time and passed on Gretzky or something. Upon further reading you learn that it would of been for Luongo. Why is this a story? Flip a coin on witch star you'd want, both are great players but still need a supporting cast. Wow, the Canucks could of had Lecavalier, and they would've had Cloutier and Auld in net with him, what a once in a lifetime screw up.

I've never been on the hate Dreger bandwagon, even though he sucks, but this is a bush league article that made me think I was on Sportsnet's website.

Auld was traded for Luongo.

The best part of the article is this line:

"However, long before Sundin the Canucks were presented with an opportunity some might consider once in a lifetime.

The Canucks were offered Vincent Lecavalier."

I guess Darren forgot that a week prior the Canucks did make a trade that could be considered "once in a lifetime" in getting a franchise goaltender for next to nothing.

I'd rather have Luongo than Lecavalier if I was the Canucks.

A player who impacts the game for 60 minutes, or one who does it for 25 minutes. Hmmm....tough call there Dregger.

It says that the Kings were made a similar offer if in fact we were able to get Luongo...it would not have been taken.

Superstar goalie or superstar Center? I think this is very obvious.

Luongo with a TKO

Luongo can steal a game if the nucks just dressed me and 5 other hosers from this place--he might even get a shutout.

Vinny is good--but he needs help wo win

I think nucks fans' have their collective butt cheeks tight when they realize that Luongo's contract is up shortly. If it is just about money--they will be able to sign him---but we all know that the x-factor is always the wild card

Would have been interesting to see how the Kings would look today if they had picked up Luongo in a trade. If in fact Feaster made the same deal to the Kings I think I may have done it. If Luongo came to LA I don't know if he would have resigned long term then again who knows if Vinny would have signed long term.

I believe the rumor was Brown and Frolov being the big part of the Luongo deal. I bet the Panthers are kicking themselves about that one.

Vinny and Anze as the 1-2 centers in LA now. One can dream, one can dream.

OR LA gets Luongo instead of Cloutier, LaBarbera, Fukufuji, etc.

Keep telling yourself that. I expect an extension to be announced immediately on July 1st.

am i missing something, to me it seems the kings were never in the running for VL but instead it was the kings and TB in the running for Luongo.

All he said was that Nonis had FEaster waiting while he was negotiatiing with Luongo for a new contact just in case the contract negotiations didnt work out. the moment luongo signed, he told feaster that luongo was unavaliable.

IT didnt sound as bad as some of you are making it out to be.

We all wish we could know some of the deals that get offered and we get a pretty big one in this one.

Lecavalier any day. Forwards can be busts in the first round. Goalies that are hyped are usually better.
