Yes, lets make our final analysis after two games. Get help, maybe you and Mess can get a 2-for-1 deal on some much needed psychiatry.

Anyways, not a great ending obviously, definitely lots of rust still there in terms of timing, but as I said earlier, the speed and strength are still there, which is obviously pretty important. Takes a lot longer if you're not up to speed. Good move by AV to keep him short shifted for the first few games.

Sharks take on Nucks on National TV tonight on CBC after the Leafs game.

Should be interesting as lots of eyes are going to be on Mats tonight.. He hasn't even registered a shot on goal in his first two games yet.

That's part of it, but the short shifting is sundin's plan and he goes off on his own too fast right now. You can see sundin will be good once he gets his legs under him, but right now his shifts are so short that he can't do anything on them. If you blink you missed sundin's shift cause he goes off too fast.

10 days is how long we have to read idiotic statements about how Sundin isn't playing at full speed? Oy.

To be fair, he probably wasn't born until Sundin was already on the Leafs.

As a huge Mats fan, I find it very difficult to watch him in a Canucks jersey and it's easier to pretend it's not happening than following the Canucks. It'd be painful to watch him light it up as a Canuck, but also kind of crummy if he stinks up the joint and finishes his career on a down note. Bad times.

Too bad those so called Leaf fans just don't follow their idol and become Nucks fans now and post Sundin watch irrelevant stuff on the Vancouver board instead of cluttering the Leafs board with this meaningless stuff now. I'm betting there are many Sundin threads over there where this thread's stuff could be posted.

If a Vancouver specific player thread appears on a Leafs board then lets make sure both the good and bad is posted regularly so both sides can enjoy the discussion equally of both his successes and failures alike.

Fair enough, when Sundin is actually failing then knock yourself out. Now, he's just getting ready to play.

Fair enough .. Just practicing and warming up as the clock started ticking for some of us the second he step on the ice in another jersey.

His getting ready to play, cost the Canucks the game yesterday, as he took a foolish slashing penalty that lead to the winning goal against in the final minutes of the game. The fact he took half the season off holidaying and playing poker and relaxing rather then playing isn't really a factor to excuse poor play that is detrimental to new team..

Brad May took a dumb penalty that cost the Leafs in his home debut a goal, and you were quick to point it out, and criticize him for it rather then suggest patience need to be taken because he is new here.

Sundin will win games for his team, Brad May won't. I guess that is the difference, plenty of skilled players all over the league get the benefit of the doubt for taking bad penalties because they do other things. A guy like Brad May doesn't even stay in the lineup if he keeps doing stuff like that. That's the way the world works.

Given how long he was here there are probably a decent number of people that don't have any memories of Toronto without Sundin, it becomes easy to take him for granted.
Ultimately his biggest assets weren't those most fans want to see though, raw counting stats regardless of anything else. And much to my shame I've begun to come around to believe those that think his being European forever doomed him to being a second class star here relative to Clark/Gilmour etc.

It's not wholly dissimilar to Koivu in Montreal, different players and different reasoning but Koivu's inability/unwillingness to learn french may well have doomed him forever as a second tier player for many of their fans.

I'll be interested to see how he's viewed here 20yrs from now. Common opinion of most notable ex-Leafs seem to have improved over time from what it was when they were actually playing, it may hold true with him as well.

Whomever is the Captain whenever we next win a cup will be a god here for a very long time however, it may be a team game but individuals draw the attention. And the Captain of a Leaf winning cup team would be worth his weight in gold to the fans.

LOL they are treally treading Mats like a golden boy out there in vancouver... he sits between Welly and one of the character lacking sedin twinz in the locker room... that's just, gay. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

His first HNIC this year, I wouldn't put it past him. As we know here, he was a flare for the dramatics.

Typical Sundin slapper into a wide open net too, we've seen the same goal a hundred times.
