Official 2008-09 CBJ Mancrush Voting (LAST CALL)

Ok, since I have some free time before I go back to school, as offered, I'll run the Mancrush awards this season. I saw that not every vote people suggested in the other thead was for Mase as I figured they would be, so let's go ahead & see what happens.

Same rules as always, but for those who are new, here's how it works. Post your three favorite players for whatever reason they may be your favorites & they'll get points in descending order (+3, +2, +1), so order of preference matters.

Then post your top two whipping boys, who will each get a -1 towards their count.

You can also throw in media personalities, management, coaching staff, or anything else pertaining to the CBJ in your voting.

At Midnight Friday (after the Caps game) (new ending time), I'll take the top 5 vote getters & we'll have the finals. The winner receives the John H. McConnell Cannon of Mancrush. The lowest score earns the "Whipping Boy" honors.

Votes will count for each player only once. If you vote Huselius, Huselius & Chimmer, for example, it'll be scored as Huselius getting 3 & Chimera getting 2.

2005 Winner:

2006 Winner:

Defending Champion:

2005 Whipping Boy- Couldn't find that...Hrdina or Rupp probably
2006 Whipping Boy- Jan Hrdina
2007 Whipping Boy- Sergei Fedorov

Malhotra +3

Can I cast all six points for Manny? Otherwise, I'm done. (Mase doesn't need my vote...)

Oooh - just saw Skraut's and forgot about Methot. He gets a +2. (Methot - not Skraut - he can have my third-place vote)

Manny
Methot
Skraut

Mason shouldn't be on the ballot for this. He's got plenty of real awards to compete for: Calder, Vezina, Hart...

The guys who've won this award never win anything of note.

That said, my mancrush votes go:

1. Malhotra
2. Russell
3. Juice

Whipping Boys:

1. Peca
2. Tyutin

1) Nash
2) Mason
3) Commie

Honorable mention:

Hejda
Tyutin
Manny
Juice

Least favs:

Backman (obvious, no?)
Russell (still gets pushed around and knocked off the puck too easily)

All things considered, though, this is probably my favorite CBJ lineup (even minus my two all-time favorites: Espen and Vybes)

The only correlation between former winners? They all either do nothing to show they belong on that pedestal the following year, or we think they should be traded the following year....

I'm predicting a "Mase Sucks" thread by November 09.

Mancrush:

1. Tyutin
2. Mason
3. Nash

Whipping Boys

1. Peca
2. Jim Day

The Mancrush elections have traditionally been mood driven. Done earlier it would be a dog fight between Brassard, Voracek, and Chimmer. The mancrush elections are an inexact science.

Good question. Looking back at CBJSlash's original rules from an old thread, it looks like you can't do that.

1. Nash +3, done a great job lately and turning into a solid captain
2. Hejda +2, always working hard but never gets any credit for it
3. Tollefsen +1, very loyal Jacket willing to go through fire for the team

1. Methot -1, overrated by fans and ended up a healthy scratch
2. Boll -1, big disappointment this season

Do you watch the games? He crushes people on the boards and is rarely caught out of position. He is a plus 8 and getting about 20 min a game and 3 goals 5 assists. Pretty damn good if you ask me.

Last five games he did nothing and was -2. He made himself the obvious scratch when Klesla returned. I believe he's sent down when all Ds are healthy.
