I'm not sure why people say the Flames choked three years in a row, either... Yes, they did choke to a degree in 05-06 when they were a 100 point club, but the past two seasons they were major underdogs against Detroit and San Jose while underachieving big time. If they hit 100 points again this year and win the division, then lose to Phoenix or some crap, then, yes, it will be fair to say they choked.

How can wins be a team-only stat yet GAA and SO are goalie stats?

Every single stat in all of hockey is in some way partially a team stat (There may be an exception, but I can't think of one).
The best way to rank this sort of thing would be in a continuum between 100% individual and 100% team effort.

For goalies I believe it would look something like this.

Team Effort [------WINS------GAA------Save %------] Individual Effort

For example, if a goalie faces 17 shots per game and lets in 4 goals, while his team scores 5 and wins. The goalie will get a win, but most likely had a bad performance in net.

Kipper just wants to pick away at the record book.

GAA - already his
Wins - trying this year
Sv % - try for that next year

Losing to Detroit who went of to win the cup.

at least get your facts right... or at least be more clear about what you are saying... the Ducks and Wings went on to win the Cup the season after beating the Flames in the playoffs... besides the better arguement is in '06 the Flames chocked... they didn't have the secondary scoring to get it done... in '07 & '08 they were facing the #1 and #2 seeds in the west and pushed them to 6 & 7 games... an underdog losing is not choking

Best part is it's usually Oiler and Canuck fans that post this rubbish and both teams have missed the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years.

How was San Jose not good last year when they won 18 of the last 21 games last year? They were the hottest team going into the playoffs but thanks for trying.
