Good, now he can no longer be tossed into proposals involving Kaberle.

One 2nd round near bust for another. Both guys are big and talented. Change of scenery could help either one.

You'd think that it were one AHLer for another and then you realize that Blunden makes around 1.5 million per year. Why exactly would Columbus pay him that much for him to play on the farm?

Could be a prelude to another deal ...

Good question.

Somebodys bust for another teams bust, thats what it boils down to, with neither being anything but a fringe NHL'er at best, with no hope of being a top nine forward.
Blunden is a mil and a half cap hit, possibly another trade?

Fail Tallon has a way of making a piece of crap look appetizing, maybe the Jackets GM bit?

Definitely - no way Columbus pays this guy $1.5 mill to play in Syracuse.

My guess is someone else wants him and CBJ is acting as the middleman.

Ya but everyone said the same thing about the Bochenski/Versteeg trade. Actually most people thought Boston won that deal. Not saying that this trade ends up like that at all. But its two guys not living up to what people thought when drafted, maybe a change could help. If not oh well.

Factor in the rumoured Toronto-Columbus deals, Blunden seemingly fitting into a Burke team, Blunden being a Toronto boy, and his gf (my friend) also from Toronto, it makes too much sense.

I believe that is his cap hit not salary and its the last year of that deal. Most of that is if he hits his bonuses which he won't. So its not like the BJ's are really paying that much.

Blunden actually has a lot of people who think he can still put it together. Last year there was reportedly a lot of interest in Blunden around the trade deadline.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Blunden do very well under Capt. Kangaroo's scheme. He's big, skates decently, and is pretty strong on the puck. He has problems with his shot accuracy and while he is wiling to play a tough game-- it really isn't his nature.

Good kid, I hope it works out well (just not against the hawks).

Thats what Iam saying.

Fail offers these players, then slyly says,"well, ill take this guy", and the rest is history.

He stole Steeg for a nobody with huge, albatross like demons, and shafted the Flyers outta Sharp for the fry station worker at the local Mickey D's.

And somethings telling me if Eager is playing an Kane's line as his protector, hes gonna net 20 one day, and THAT would make Fail Tallon look like a genuis

Our bust for your bust.

Oh, and that's a 2-way contract Blunden's on. He's making beans at the AHL level.

Eager is almost at 10. Who would have thought?

Like Teemu said about the trade, our bust for yours.

I could (maybe) take Blunden as a throw in for Doug Weight (along with maybe a high draftpick and/or Methot), should he be traded from the Islanders to Columbus as some rumours say. Islanders could use, among a lot of other things, a prospect winger with some size and some goal scoring touch (but I do realize that Blunden at this point is far away from what his potential was when he was drafted).

The Misses will love him on the mantle shelf, so you be sure to treat him well.

This trae was probably made so that both GMs could not qualify the players after the year and not feel quite so bad about it

I saw quite a bit of Blunden when he played for the Otters. I've always rooted for him and now he's on my 2nd favorite team. Hopefully he can make the transition to the NHL.
