Sanguinetti Recalled to Rangers - UPDATE: Sent Back Down to HFD

According to the AHL site transaction page Bobby Sanguinetti has been called up to the Rangers. My thinking is insurance if Rozsival can not play tonight. Anybody see him play lately, what can we expect to see?

playing in 1 or 2 games would probably be good for him.

In addition to the Rozy injury if you remeber Staal slammed into the boards after being tripped. Granted he played the rest of the game, but that doesnt mean he didnt wake up this morning in pain. They might have decided that one of Rozy and Staal will sit.

Remember guys. This how Girardi became a regular. Once Rozsival comes back(?) Kalinin is gone, and wow...look at that defensive corps.

Yeah... I don't know about that. From almost everything I read about him this season Sanguinetti still seems like he's adjusting.

I hope he sticks around, but I seriously doubt it. Even Kalinin will probably be safer bet right now, especially since he's improved his game to the point where he's not actually horrible over the past two weeks.

Girardi was actually playing very well in the AHL when he got the call. Sangs has lots to work on.

well the official ahl site is pretty reliable so he definitely was called up, the question is of course if he indeed plays today.
Could it be that a trade is in the works as another possibility? i wonder why potter wasn't called up if it was an injury replacement.

This is how Dave Liffiton and Ivan Baranka became nobodies as well...

Sanguinetti wasn't recalled to be scratched for a game or two and then be sent back down. He's going to be playing. Let's see what he does and not expect too much out of a guy who is 20 years old in his first AHL season.

Sangs is a -13 in the AHL, I don't even want to think about what that would translate to in the NHL. Let him play 1 or 2 games, but not remain with the team

New Jersey's Bobby Sanguinetti, the Rangers' first-round pick in 2006, has been recalled from Hartford (AHL) and may make his NHL debut tonight when the Rangers face the Ottawa Senators. Michal Rozsival, despite saying last night he'd "probably" be able to play, did add he had a headache so the Rangers could err on the side of caution in sitting him after he took two stitches to his right cheek after being slammed head first into the door to the Rangers' bench.
Quote:
UPDATE, 1:20 p.m.: I'm told Paul Mara is fine and that Sanguinetti was brought up over Corey Potter, who has two games of NHL experience, because Sanguinetti has been play very well lately with the Wolf Pack

Considering every defenseman in Hartford is a minus that doesn't concern me so much. How about we let him play his first shift before we decide how long he should stay with the team?

The Rangers take a very conversative approach with concussions or the hint of a concussion

Roszival said he had a headache after the game last night.

Quote:
"I have a little headache, X-rays were negative," said Rozsival, whose status for tonight’s game at Ottawa is uncertain. He needed two stitches in his right cheek. "We’ll see how I feel. Probably I will [play]."

Why take the chance?

Marek Malik was a +67 in his three seasons with the Rangers and is just a -1 this season with TB...enough said.

+/- is overrated
