There is no doubt that Vally is showing up as a premier starting goalie with his recent performances. He is playing better than 2/3 the league right now. This is shaping up to be a great tandem between Lundy and Vally, if only we had a significant source of offense. Trade him not.

Valiquette has turned himself into a competent backup goalie. But, if you want to rant about how's he turning himself into a "a premier starting goalie" maybe you should wait until he's started at least 20 games in a season.

Buffalo had one of those too and all they got was a 2nd round pick and that keeper was much much better than Vally. Nice back up but nothing else.
Well the way I look at it from say last nights stand point. Valiquette kept a team in the game who could not score. The Rangers could have had 4 or 5 goals in the second period but Miller kept his team in it as the Rangers completely dominated the period and had 0 to show for it. When it came time for Vally to stop his share of flurries, he did. More so in the third period.
He also did very well in the shootout. It's rare that Nas, Nik, and Dru all could not put a puck in the net on three break away shots. Well, I'm at least surprised with the first two guys.

That's true. I think they were all on the back hand. Last night was real tough. Wasn't in the best of moods after the game. But, I'm starting to get used to it. Games that look like who ever is in net and the Rangers should win, they blow it.
I mean Lundqvist when he's on is the better of the two goal tenders. But Vally is pretty good in his own right. But this whole thread. IDK. It just seems like who ever is in net, there's a dark cloud hanging over the team. They have played hard but something needs to be done.

I'd say he's been more than simply competent... He's become an excellent backup goalie.
I was one of the few who had faith in him as a backup from the get-go. I'm glad my faith has paid off!
I wish the canucks got him this summer cause he's a former gillis client and was their first choice as a backup, but he chose to re-sign with new york. Would have been interesting to see what he could have done during luongo's injury.
