To Van : PK Subban, 2nd Rounder
To Mon : Alex Edler, 7th Rounder
Cuz you know we dont get enough proposals.
Vancouver says no.
Subban had a pretty good WJC tournament, but he's far from being NHL-ready at a time where the Canucks are either at their peak of, or are nearing, this core of players' window for contention.
Edler is a proven NHL defenseman with a good value four-year contract. He's worth much more to Vancouver at this point.

No from Montreal. We don't need Edler. We have several young defensemen coming up and Subban is one of them. What Montreal needs is a PP QB for this year, possibly next, someone with experience, preferably right handed, and Edler isn't it.

Weber will probably be on this team long before Subban.

I didn't talk about timing in my post. O'Byrne, Weber, Carle, Subban, McDonagh, Fisher, Koneev, and possibly Valentenko and Yemelin are all up and comers that can be ready at any point in time.
We simply need someone to bridge in the mean time. I'd like a guy like Zidlicky in Minessota, who has a two year contract, or someone along those lines.
Unless we go for the home-run like Bouwmeester, I don't see the need to go for yet another young defenseman. We have Markov, Gorges and Hamrlik under contract and I'd be shocked if Komo wasn't re-signed.

Between all these guys, only McDonagh, Valentenko and Emelin are left Dman and the last 2 guys aren't sure shot at even coming to NA. We're pretty weak in the LD department and, even though Weber will probably not be quite as good as Subban, I'd pounce on the opportunity to add a good young LD like Edler if it came at the cost fo Subban since we have Weber.

Again, we have Markov, Hamrlik and Gorges who are lefties. How many do we need?

This is a joke that will never happen!! Mtl ant let go of subban n if they do not cheap like that haha maybe they'll give u o'byrne n 4th for edler n 7th
I'm talking about prospect depth and Gorges is presently playing on the right side because of our horrible RD depth on the team.
My point exactly, so why again would we want yet another left handed D? Unless we're talking about a Jay Bouwmeester type player who can make a huge difference immediately, I really don't see the need.

I'm pretty sure that's his point seeing how Edler is a 20 minute a night guy in the NHL and Subban isn't NHL calibur. Pretty obvious.
Honestly, as a Habs' fan, I'd rather take my time with Subban and see how he develops. He played 3 exhibition games at camp and did very well for us. Too much potential to trade him as far as I'm concerned, unless it's for a key player like Bouwmeester (in a package, of course).
Firstly, forget this trade including Edler. Its sounds awfull for a Montreal fan believe me. Subban is a righthander, specificly what we need for the future. I think he will be better than Weber in this future.
