Not in Filatov's case. He said more than once that he only wants to be in the NHL.

I agree. The future looks bright.

The WJC helped him a lot. Imagine when Brassard comes back. Filatov will be a regular and Leclaire would have been traded for some great assets. I love this team now, but I still hate those jerseys.

Filatov's a fluke, Brassard is weak and injury prone and was only riding the coattails of Nash, Russell and Voracek will never amount to anything, Mason's a product of Hitchcock's system and the defense in front of him.

Congrats to Filatov - a hat trick in than 10 minutes of ice...not too bad. Columbus is definitely on the rise; that thread about all the angst of Blue Jackets fans from a while back looks kind of silly now, doesn't it?

It's a natural common occurance among Russian rookies.

Maybe hitchcock will play the kid this time. First call up, he got like 4 mins a game. Last game he got like 8 mins, and today only 10 mins even with the hat trick.

Nah. This kid wants to be here. He speaks English already -- his mom's an English teacher in Russia. He's got the personality of an Ovechkin. This is not your typical Russian stereotype.

Huselius at RW would be my guess on that Nash line. He'll be here for a while.

That's a dangerous Top 6, and if they can get their hands on a 1st line center, they'd be even better. I hope they can get Spezza.

I seriously love this kid. I'm no scout, but I think he'll be the best player out of this past draft. Future sure as hell looks bright in Columbus, shouldn't be long before they can actually contend.

On a side note- Bergeron, 1st, and Lashoff for Filatov?

So, uh, I hear CBJ needs a center. Arnason for Filatov?

But no seriously, this kid is special. I thought he would have been taken higher, even high as the no. 3 spot. Either way, its gonna be fun watching him play.

the first goal was a breakaway where the goaltender came out to try to knock the puck away and he just angled it away from the goaltender and into the net. The 2nd goal was a nice no look snip to left corner as he was speeding down the left board. The third goal was a low blocker side snipe from the right slot.

I'm sure if you wait a little bit nhl.com will have highlights up.

1st - semi-breakaway with the puck way ahead of him that Harding misplaces, puck and Filatov wind up in the net

2nd - short side shot from the left side off the rush, defenseman's stick may have tipped it slightly.

3rd - Peca with a pass from behind the net to Filatov waiting at the right circle, quick shot that goes through the five hole, may have been deflected by a defender's skate

First was a steal-breakaway where he beat a rushing goalie. Second was a no-look, top-shelf, glove-side snap from the right face-off dot on a long pass from Peca. Third was out front, low-left leg shot from a between-the-legs Peca pass.

Hitchcock is smart in not playing him 15-20 minutes or something high like that. The kid is 18 years olds and can probably be beat in the corners by bigger wingers.

YAY for Nikita!

I'm really hoping Toots and the Blue Jackets make the PO's this year. GO BJ's!

btw, regarding the sarcastic post about the Jackets. Brass rarely played with Nash :p

Anyway, here's a look at next season, assuming no trades or any FA signings, and stuff

Nash-Brassard-Huselius
Filatov-Umberger-Voracek
Chimera-Peca/Malholtra-Modin
Torres-Malholtra/Murray-Boll

Dorsett is making an authentic case for the team as well.

Team's looking good.

I haven't watched the Jackets since they played the rangers a while ago, but I really hope that Hitchcock is playing the young guys more than he was at the beginning of the season...I guess he must be, because Brassard was scoring quite well, and Voracek and now Filatov are putting up points.
