He has 29 goals in 44 games. They play an 82 game season. He has 38 games left, not 40

65 goals is so ridiculous. It didn't dawn on me until I thought about it after last season.

hmmm, TSN shows them as playing 44.

EDIT: Now it shows them at 42. When I was on the site last night, it showed them at 44 games. Something's messed up. I'll have to double check, but one of the sites showed Carter as playing in 44 games so far.

I keep expecting him to go on a slump like he did last year. But so far the longest slump has only been a few days and he makes up for it by scoring 2.

He has a chance but i doubt it. Id definately say 50 though.

Speaking of hats... Richards is one of two or three players in the league that is capable of equaling Fleury's SH hattrick.

I agree, there hasnt been a slump like last year and when he has gone 2-3 games without a goal he still dominates the game which is a good sign. There were times last year where he would be a non factor in games but this year even when hes not scoring hes getting good chances, there hasnt been more than a few games all year where he was shut down.

Like a lot of people have said anything is possible and he has a chance, but most likely it won't happen this year.

I remember reading on here a while back when a lot of people were down on Carter some people were saying we needed to hold onto him cause he could turn into a "Vinny Lite" player. Those people were definitely right, but do you think its off base to say he has a chance of becoming just a "Vinny" type player?

Sorry if i'm stealin the thread...

A chance? Sure, but there's a reason Vinny went #1 and Carter #11 in the draft. As good as the '03 draft was, do it again right now and Vinny still goes either first or second after Phaneuf.

i don't think he'll make 60... he will probably end up with 40-45 in my eyes. It would be sweet to hit 50, first since John Leclair i believe.

61 seems pretty unlikely. So far we've had 6 50+ goal scorers in our history.

Leach (61,50)
Kerr (58,58,54,54)
Recchi (53)
LeClair (51,51,50)
Barber (50)
MacLeish (50)

I think he has a great shot at 50, having someone on the current team that joins the elite group above would be amazing unto itself.
