The oilers need a player just like Fisher, the problem is they don't have any interest at all in the contract that fisher has. In a time where there is serious talk about the financial health of some franchises there wil be an aversion to taking on contracts of that size without moving out similar levels of money.
The talk of Gilbert for Fisher is totally laughable. Gilbert is the oilers 2nd best over all d-man. I will grant you that Vishnovski is much better offensively, but Gilbert has a better game for both ends of the ice. Fisher was a great player up to this year, but he has shown an inability to fight through the adversity of playing on a below average team and that would not bode well going to the oilers because they have been the "poster boy" of below average. Paying 4 million for a d-man is not the same as paying 4 million for a forward given the number of minutes they play and such.
There seems to be a deal of some sort to be made between these 2 teams, but Gilbert for Fisher just isn't it!
