That's awesome, great video. Who's the announcer? Kind of sounds like Don Whittman but I'm not completely sure about that (haven't watched the whole thing yet).
The announcer is Bill Hewitt, son of the legendary Foster Hewitt. The Hewitts were the voices of Hockey Night in Canada, going back to the early days of the NHL when Foster would broadcast across Canada from Maple Leaf Gardens from the Gondola as he would say. The intermission announcer is Ward Cornell, (he interviewed all of the greats from that era). The reason that the beginning of the game is not seen is that the CBC would join the games in progress, usually at 9 p.m. in the east, playoffs or regular season.
These are absolutely awesome, Dark Shadows. Thank you very much for all of the time you spend uploading these games. I sat the other evening and watched the Wings vs Hawks game 5 from 1965. Just so everyone knows, back in those days, the hockey was absolute great, because the talent pool was very deep. That game featured a couple of guys playing on the Wings that were career minor leaguers. In fact, the Wings had three young players, Gary Bergman, Roger Crozier and Doug Barkley (who Hewitt says went out early in the game due to a concussion) were rookies that season. Barkley was a defensive force for the Red Wings until Doug Mohns hit him and Barkley's retina was detached. Crozier replaced Terry Sawchuk (the Wings placed him on waivers and the Leafs picked him up) and Crozier was the rookie of the year. Also, Teddy Lindsay came out of retirement to play a final season with the Red Wings and that is why he's wearing number 15...Lindsay was the force why the Wings finished first (he was 39 years old).
Sorry I rambled on so long, but this is a game from when I was a young teenager (13). It was like watching living history on my computer. We were fortunate to be able to see HNIC games because Windsor Television was able to be seen in Detroit.
Read or listen to some old-time players and they make it clear that it was generally understood that you kept your shots low (and a flat blade helped in that regard). If you purposely shot high at a goalie's head, you would rightly expect to incur the wrath of his stick (and his teammate's fist).
Also, with standup goalies, it made sense to go low rather than high.
Just so everyone knows. Google video stopped allowing uploads some time in 2009. But as of May 13th 2011, they will be removing all videos hosted by anyone.
If you want to watch anything you only have until then
Thank you. I tried to upload this one 3 times and failed each time on google video. This was before youtube started letting us upload files that long
No problem, I am happy i can share it with people who love hockey and it´s great YT lets us upload and view full matches and even make few bucks with adsense.

Yeah, of course it´s same game, same version just not split into parts, but nicely in one video and if you´re interested you can watch
Canada Cup 1976 2nd final game Czechoslovakia - Canada. (with czech commentary)
For anyone's who interested, there are countless full games from various years on Youtube. Just search for a particular team name, go to search options, and select long videos, over 20 minutes. Watching Gretzky's first NHL game at the moment. Some cool stuff on there.
Anyone know if the 2010 USA/Canada gold medal game is available for viewing anywhere?
BTW does anyone have a video which shows the USSR goals from the Miracle on Ice game? Pretty much all the videos on Youtube only show the USA goals (or even just Eruzione's).

I actually found it in full on BTJunkie as well as a handful of other Olympic games.
Huge thanks for this link. I've been trying for about a year now to find as many WHA Jets games as I can find. I've wanted to watch the Hull-Hedberg-Nilsson trio since reading The Rebel League a while back.
I'd love to see any of Gretzky's Junior games (OHA, not World Juniors ESPN Classic shows a good number of those) or his Indy Racers games. Apparently, when he was in LA, he also played part of a preseason game with the Phoenix Roadrunners, I'd be interested in seeing that game.
If requests are OK to post, I'd like to see Peter Forsberg and Markus Naslund dominate in the World Junior Championship, preferably vs "Czech & Slovakia" or the Russians.
They're all with Russian commentary: All the games from the 1972 & 1974 Summit Series, the 2010 Olympic Final & Can-Rus QF, Russia's QF & SF from the 2002 Olympics & Game 3 of the 1979 Challenge Cup http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbbpL1Uigl8
Is there anyway to upload those games on my computer? In a few months I might not have access to the Internet, and would love to get them to watch offline.
