Gotta waste my 4,000th post on something:

Vincent Lecavalier and Paul Ranger

for

Andrei Kostitsyn, Sergei Kostitsyn, Tomas Plekanec, Steve Begin, Ryan McDonaugh, Ben Maxwell, the 2009 and 2010 First and Second Round Picks.

But seriously , yes Vinny's contract is a risk and i don't deny that. I am just more concerned about the length than the cap hit even if i know very well that one doesn't go without the other in this case.

Think, I don't know, we got Kovalev for a piece of AHL bread, think we can trade Lehoux for Lecavalier?

No?

Ah.
you're right. but all this being said, when he'd step on the ice for the first time, that'd be a total riot (using the term very lightly).

maybe TB can chose between Dag's and Patches.

His girlfriend's heart isn't. His heart's gonna sour on a city if that night the girl won't open up for business because she's sick of Tampa.

After all, the dusty, smelly streets of Sorel are so much better.

Way I see it is we have nine top six forwards right now. I think it would be well worth it to sacrifice two of them (allegedly Pleks and Higgy) in order to acquire a game breaker like Vinny. The guy is a winner and has what it takes to win a cup when the cards are down on the table.

I see no problem converting our third offensive line into a checking stalwart led by the likes of Chipchura and Lapierre. Most cup teams have them (i.e. Draper, Maltby on last years cup champs).

A deal like this could also solidify the roles of the players on the team and leave it less ambiguous than it is right now. We have the advantage of having an amazing scouting staff that keeps Hamilton full of talent, so why not trade some of it for a cup run? We won't have room on our roster for all the talented players down there.

We have the depth and we should use it.

His NTC isn't effective. Though the rumors wants the owner to give the opportunity for Vinny to give them a list of city he would like to plays in:

1-Montreal
2-Montreal
3-Montreal

Am I?

Yes, yes I am.

Let's just say, I'm happier this is not me deciding it. Oh, and I'd have this trade subject to a physical.

Anyway, I'll just finish with this: In Bob I trust.

Lecavalier in a Habs jersey... woa, imagine the frenzy, not just in the medias, but in Quebec as a whole ! Insane...

But I agree with some, IMO losing Plekanec, even if I like the kid, isn't a big deal Vinny's a huge upgrade, and Higgins as a player I don't give a rat's ass, but as a person, as a Habs fan growing up, and as the best friend of Komisarek... ouch.

Gorges too, if we get Ranger, IMO it becomes somewhat even, BUT as the seemingly best friend of Price... ouch.

Subban hasn't even played a game in the AHL, but his personality alone is marketable, and it seems to be contagious. I'd hate to lose this high-risk, high-reward prospect, but we have to give to get...

I'm just so damn happy not to be in Gainey's shoes, cause there's too many 'if' to consider... but I'd be insanely happy to get Lecavalier too !

I don't know but i have an hard time believing this coming from Theodore .

One the other hand , Brisebois came back after being literally booed out of town so you never know.

Even with the proposed deals, the lineup would look like:
A-K - Lecavalier - Kovalev
Tanguay - Koivu - D'Agostini
S-K - Lang - Latendresse
Bégin - Lapierre - Kostopoulos
Laraque

With Pacioretty and Chipchura still down there, the depth we have is scary!

Hell, why we're at it..why don't we add Markov, Komisarek, Kovalev, Price and MaxPac? Oh, and a 4th round pick in 09.

2009-10: $10 million
2010-11: $10 million
2011-12: $10 million
2012-13: $10 million
2013-14: $10 million
2014-15: $10 million
2015-16: $10 million
2016-17: $8.5 million
2017-18: $4 million
2018-19: $1.5 million
2019-20: $1 million

that's alot of fricken money tied up in one player. what baffles me is that teams that signed certain players to a ridicluous contract is really ****ed up in their head. it will hurt their team and then that player with the new deal will probably get dealt. it's a lose-lose situation for team a and b involved say like for montreal.

That contract is not that bad, you just buy out the last 2-3 years of his contract if he is not producing at 36.

Seriously i was listening to Bob and when he's asked about Lecavalier he smiles a bit and he says " i hear more about Marian Gaborik (yeah why would someone trade for a guy that wont play on his last year of contract????) and the defensmen from Florida (what? you can't even say his name? you must be working realy hard on this case)" It sounds like he only says names that we, rabid fans, talk about.

it's a burden for sure but imagine all we'd get with Vinny. He's a franchise player, he's big, he can score, he's a C, and he speaks french. He's like everything a bunch of Habs fans have wanted for years but on steroids.

Personally I'm quite split on the idea.. It really depends on what we'd give up in terms of prospects. Plek and Higgins can go if we get Vinny back... it's the 3rd/4th/5th pieces that worry me.. I don't want us to totally sabotage our draft picks most of all, and I like Subban.
