He's living in Corpus Christi, TX where his brother Sylvain is the coach of the CHL Corpus Christi IceRayz

Quote:
Cloutier, whose best seasons were in Vancouver during his 10-year NHL career, had surgery a month ago to repair a torn labrum in his hip.

"He hasn't lost the dream," his agent, Roland Thompson, told ESPN.com. "But we'll wait and see what happens in his recovery."

The NHLPA also has filed a grievance at the request of Cloutier and Thompson against the Los Angeles Kings, charging they were not in a position to buy him out of his contract last summer because he wasn't physically fit to play.

Probably sitting at home wondering where to go next, he made his millions and now he can either go to school and get an education and a career or he can get a job with an NHL team. I've heard of worse goaltenders that teach kids. So why not him? He did win 30+ games a few times and wasn't that bad until the last few years before his buyout.

Honestly, people can mock him all they want. I've met the guy a few times when he was a Canuck in and around Vancouver, just running into him and him actually remembering meeting me and chatting it up for half an hour to an hour sometimes, just talking about hockey and life. He is a nice guy, quiet and reserved unlike how he is on the ice when he snapped out and would fight sometimes. His gf/wife at the time was really nice as well and again so was he. So I can't and won't hate on the guy.

Just saw this, good on Dan. I hope he gets healthy and goes over to the KHL to get a ton of playing time and earn his way back to being a #1 there and eventually gaining interest around the league. It works for some people but hey if it doesn't get him a call from an NHL team, he could at least have a career in Europe.

Who cares? He is STILL making money off of the Kings just like Crawford. Last time I checked he was planning on settling down and leaving hockey, or at least quitting from playing. Dunno if he has been since or is trying to but last I heard he has his kid and wife to look after and wanted to be with them and perhaps get an outside job or maybe something behind a bench, even though he is making a million a year from us for this year and the next.... I don't think he is in a hurry to get that job

There's a lot of former Kings mentioned in that article.

And somehow his health had something to do with this?

Oh, Cloutier. You were the passion that united us all.

Anyone have that picture of him at some charity event where he was getting his face painted and someone photoshopped him getting 'I SUCK' written on his forehead? That pic always used to crack me up.

Seriously, guys, post # 27 was the first real actual answer to this guy's question?

How about you post some facts and then make a joke after? It might give your post some more clout!

Cloutier is a nice guy and by all accounts a hell of a teammate. Yes, we have bitterness in Vancouver cause we feel let down by him, but from the last interviews I've read with him, all he wants to do is play hockey and be a good teammate.

I don't mean to be a tight ass but why kick a guy when he's down?

I think the issue is that a team can't buyout a player when he's injured.

Cloutier's "problem" is that when he came back (in Feb 08) and played very good for a few games, but then he happened to suck in many more. I've never seen so many goals scored from so many bad angles - it's like opposing teams were just shooting from anywhere below the circles to see if he really was that bad,... and he was!

So, I'm guessing DC is saying he played injured for the sucky games but was ok for the few good games.(??)

Since when did they start calling it Istanbul?

Why did Constantinople get the works?
