Capitals @ Kings. 4pm. 1/2/10.

Another quick and dirty post from me, lets hope the outcome is better than the last one I threw together.

Stats:
Washington 40-24-10-6 (54 pts)
Los Angeles 41-23-15-3 (49 pts)

Television: Live on CSN-DC(HD)

Kings fan here....I come in peace.

Lines Kings roll should be something like this:

Smyth/Kopitar/Brown
Frolov/Handzus/Segal
Parse/Richardson/Simmonds
Purcell/Moller/Harrold

Scuderi/Doughty
Johnson/O'Donnell
Drewiskie/Green

Quick/Ersberg

Purcell was a healthy scratch last game against the Wild on NYEve. We won that game 5-2. Coach Terry Murray iced 7 D with D Peter Harrold doing double duty on the 4th line at times.

Purcell has not played up to expectations. He was a free agent signing with a 1 year contract for this season only. Looks like he won't be back next unless he can radically show some scoring which is what was expected of him.

Watch out for our 3rd line. They've been hot. The other 6 Top 9 forwards have been doing a good job also.

Prediction: Kings are notorious for sleeping through these 1:00 PST Saturday games. I think we won the last one but usually lose. With your Cap's being out of their comfort time zone in the East and if the Kings bring 60 minutes of good play and are able to shut down Ovie we have a good chance to beat you guys today. My gut tells me Kings win this one, possible in OT or a SO.

Thanks Winsomemore, I'll amend the first thread post when the Caps post their lineups. Good luck tonight!

Hopefully they're pissed after the last 2 games and with the few days off to think about. They get back to basics and win 8-2

They better win this one, although I don't think it'll be as easy as the standings say.

Has Ovy ever come a long way in his English. wow good for him.

OK we need this win. I don't know why the Caps have such a tough time with these western games...I'm sick of watching them lay eggs in the PST.

How has Moller been playing? Is he a top 6 guy long term?

The Caps are the best team. So, I am sure you don't mean that.

I think they shake off this funk and come out with something to prove.

5-2 Caps.

In two head-to-head meetings last season they sure weren't.

He's been OK. He isn't playing in the Top 6 much this season. But that's Coach Murray getting him to have a D first mentality. So far he's 13 GP/1/2/3. Not indicative at all of what he could be doing with major Top 6 minutes.

His size is his biggest drawback but he's been skating hard and smart. He still needs to bulk up.

Until he's back in the Top 6, like last season, I can't say if he's Top 6 long term but my opinion is that yes, he will be. Last season he went 40 GP/7/8/15.

4-3 Caps.

Semin/Fleischmann/Ovi/Backstrom for us.

Kopitar/Richardson/Simmons for the Kings.

Has ex-King Steckal been doing OK with you guys on the bottom 6? I see he's #3 in the NHL in face-off% @ 61.4%. Wow! Nice guy to have around.

He never played a game with the Kings, though. He played at our AHL affiliate, Manchester Monarchs, for one season, was not re-signed and you guys got him as a free agent.

He's been little more than a face-off specialist this season. He's a Bruce guy, though.

He was great last year, especially in the playoffs. This year, not so much. Dig disappointment outside the faceoffs.

*fixed.

Steckel's been exactly what Langway described him as: a face-off specialist. I mean, he'll get a goal every once in a blue moon by driving hard to the net like a good 4th liner, but he's got stone hands, so he doesn't really bring much offense to the table.

He does show up during the playoffs, though.

Interesting. Thanks!

Looks like Stoll still will not play (he's our top face-off guy with Handzus being our #2) and Randy Jones, who you all have seen more of than we ever did, might play.

Jones has been quite the pinch-in goal scorer. Defensively though....a lot to be desired. For every G he scores he makes a bad play and we get scored on.

Kings fan here. You guys definantly have the star power. Our third line has been causing a lot of havoc for the opposition lately. As far as Moller goes, he gets put on his rear just about every game. Has all the tools but is just to small. Kopitar has not been putting up the offensive numbers he did in the beginning of the season. But he is still an offensive threat. With that said, good luck tonight and i'm looking forward to watching it.

I think the Caps have had time to adjust to the time out there. I beg for a strong 60 minute performance and a win.

Its gonna be the battle of Mike Green vs Drew Doughty.

And, if what happens last time we met happens again, Ovie vs Brown.
