Schneider to Habs all but a done deal?

Kipper just mentioned Habs and Thrash will be making a deal shortly that sends Schneider to the Habs, he speculated Higgins is involved. Both teams waiting on a few players to return to formalize. Also mentioned Boston may have been interested at one time but doesn't seem to think Chiarelli wants to dismantle too many pieces of that puzzle other than maybe Fernandez.

If Schneider with this kind of season gets back Higgins, I'll be extremely pissed.

And I find it weird, since Gainey didn't let Higgins go for Hossa.

I am not against acquiring Schneider, however we should be looking at sending back deadwood, not Higgins.

yep an old 38 yrd old d-man at 5.5 mil for another year for a young talented winger who is an RFA at the end of the year, who scored 28 goals last year.

Kipper

Atlanta would have to be throwing something else in to bring Higgins back in the deal.

In either case, the deal will not happen until either Bogosian or Exelby are off IR.

Update: Actually I heard Bogosian is ready to rejoin the Thrashers, so this could go down relatively quickly. Not sure how far out Exleby is from returning though.

lol Higgins for Schneider ?

A young solid RFA two way left winger for a declining overpaid defenseman?

Please be serious for a second.

I'd be shocked if Atlanta got much...

I mean Schneider was a guy that could have been had for free at the end of the begining of the season...

Maybe there is more to the deal, but if Montreal is giving up Higgins, i think they would be expecting more back, or maybe they are comfortable with Pacioretty to stay a top 6 forward for them?

Its just speculation at this point. I wouldnt give more than a 2nd rounder and a 3rd 4th line farm player.

i forgot that he was on waivers a few months back. So a guy from waivers goes from free to Chrris Higgins?

Poor Chris, starting today he was being dealt for Lecavalier, then Malkin, now Schneider.

Talk about depreciation

If this is in fact Schneider for Higgins Montreal will be screwed yet again in a trade.

What you mean schneider isn't a hab yet? Eklund had schneider to the habs as a lock happening any day now back in the summer.

Vinny L + Habs fans=

Higgins + Thrashers fans=

I would be very pleased if DW could pull this off, but it seems too good to be true.

Do these guys ever talk about the salary cap at all with these rumours? Just curious. I mean, the Habs had just $1M of cap space available to start the season. Schneider makes A LOT. Even if we're half-way through the season, he's a hard player to add, even for dead wood.

I don't believe for a second that Higgins factors in here in any way, and whoever "Kipper" is, he would seem to be sabotaging his own credibility just by mentioning Higgins in this context.

Actually Kipper has very good sources. During the Trade Deadline Day he would usually report the deals before the other channels did.
