Regier renders all "Satan to the Isles" speculation dead in the water after realizing that trading his offensive star to the team he's chasing for the 8th and final playoff slot is even beyond his own stupidity.
By the bold lettering of "Mark Parrish" and "Mattias Weinhandl" I would be led to beleive the rumor is Satan for Parrish and Weinhandl.
However, I render it dead, if Regier trades Satan to the Isles, no matter what he gets back, he is saying his season is over, which I can't see happening.
Parrish and Weinhandl is a pretty good deal though considering Satan's salary and closeness to UFA after next season.I am in no way in favour of this deal for the Isles. For Buffalo they get younger, cheaper, grittier and could conceivably get more offensive production.I don't think it would be throwing in the towel at all.
And the likelihood of the Islanders obtaining an impact player by tomorrow's trading deadline is about as slim as their lead has become for the eighth and final playoff slot in the Eastern Conference.
But the Isles are not alone in the types of upgrades they'd like to make, and it does not seem likely they'll be able to land a stud, such as they believed Janne Niinimaa to be last year. Instead, look for a Darren Van Impe-type addition.
