Not gonna happen. Islanders won't trade their 1st.

Yeah....I don't think the Islanders are looking to move their pick right now. Especially when the main asset you're offering is Toskala and the Islanders have DiPietro (for better or for worse) signed for the next decade.

At this point, I don't think you'd see a pick for pick type trade until the draft order is actually decided.

Go back to the drawing board and try to come up with something the isles would actually want

Likewise, it's very rare when a team can acquire generational players like White and Hollweg in a single deal.

I like it!

Hope Garth Snow does too!

Go Isles!

great for the Isles, pure dog poop for the leafs...
Leafs give up the better players and their 1st, making the Isles that much better that they will move up in the standings, and the Leafs SO much worse that it would guarantee the Isles one of the top 2 picks.

The Isles are being very cautious with DiPietro.I expect that cautious treatment to last all season. No reason to rush him when the team stinks. The isles are 10 pts behind Toronto in the standings. No need to try and switch first rounders.

Newsday's already reported on which possible vets Snow will move at the trade deadline.Moves to bring in more young nhlers, prospects and picks.

To NYI- Leafs first 2009, Stajan
To Laughs- Jon Sim

Come on really? This proposal is terrible aside from the fact that Meyer is better than White, Hollweg, and Stralman who hasn't done anything, and yes we really need Toskala with a better goalie in Dipietro when healthy.

The Leafs are going to trade for another first round pick with a contending team looking to add Kaberle, Kubina or even Matt Stajan now since his value has peaked. Once the draft order is decided and the leafs still hold a top 5 pick look at them trading that pick, the other first rounder, and 2010s first round pick to who ever has the coveted number 1 pick. Tavares warrants a Lindros-like return minus the millions of bucks but if any team cud throw in some cash its the leafs. (Team Worth the most of all NHL clubs with the most money) Garth Snow will trade down, hes done it before and if he sees the potential coming back hell pull the trigger. However leafs in rebuild mode, not sure as to how willing Burkie is willing to trade picks. Maybe Throw in Tlusty or Stefanovich rather than the second 09 first or the 10 first. It will be interesting to see nonetheless. NHL entry draft gets highest ratings since crosby draft!

...A Lindros trade? For Tavares? By a rebuilding team?

I admit I don't think that highly of Brian Burke, but I don't think he's *that* crazy.

Leaf fans wanting the Isles first rounder for an overrated Toronto dman?

Not sure why, but this feels oddly familiar.

I know I have my doubts as well I'm suggesting the possibility. People in Toronto see this kid as the messiah. When has Toronto had a generational Talent really? If it means dealing a few potential A prospects to land him Burke may pull the trigger. Like i said Tlusty is still a bargaining chip however I think next season hes producing 20 goals and 50 points. I've seen the Kid play. Not only that Anton Strahlman is beginning to shape into kaberles replacement. Late round draft pick, european offensive defenseman with superior skating prowess. Call me optimistic but theres some substantial points right there and I trust Brian Burke makes the right decision. If not ill gladly take his resignation after the draft

It doesn't matter if the people of TO sees the guy as the Messiah if the Isles brass does the same.

Also, there's a pretty real possibility that TO finishes BEHIND the Isles in the standings, thus making this trade an endless joke.

To avoid redundancy regarding what the other NYI fans have posted, I will just mention besides a lack of desire to do this trade that Sillinger injured his hip again and likely won't play another NHL game.
