Very important game in disguise. 3 losses in a row could be the start of a skid.

To quote White Zombie (quoting an old sci-fi flick)..."Get out there and kill".

A win would be nice. After stuggling to score goals and losing two in a row, a cake walk I don't see tonight.
Add that the Penguins are next and how the how the team feels about them as a potential distraction tonight.

*Speaking of the Oilers, lots of the talk after today's practice already was looking ahead to Wednesday's showdown in Pittsburgh, where it will be Ovechkin vs. Malkin and Semin vs. Crosby.
High loss potential here.

The chances should be decent for a win tonight, with the Oilers struggling without their best player in Hemsky, who is doubtful for tonight's game. The Oilers play a tough game, though, to be sure. It will be close either way.

Don't know what to think about tomorrow's game. The Caps are at home tonight, the Penguins in Philly. Both will play tough physical teams tonight, and then both travel about the same distance to get back to Pittsburgh after tonight's games, for tomorrow's Caps-Pens contest. The Pens get the home crowd and the last change, but the other typical back-to-back advantages should be nullified.

Back to back games really are a low point for this team. Since the Caps always seem to piss it away anyway, let's have them win this one and hope for the best tomorrow?

It's back-to-back games for both the Caps and the Pens. Both have to play tonight and then travel. I think it's a wash.

If there is one team I would not want to play in the first game of back-to-backs, it's Philly. Both teams should be banged up and tired tomorrow.

I am not surprised about skating Erskine with Green. Ever since Eminger departed, Erskine has had no chemistry with anyone. Truth be told, he only had one chance - and the dreaded jurskine monster was born. It set the board into a frenzy for months because Bruce refused to break up that failed pairing. It was a bit of a head scratcher. It seemed he avoided pairing Sarge and Ernie = too slow a pair. An Erskine pairing needs to be found and since we have no other RD, why not try Green.

yea...rare occasion where the back to back is fair because its a back to back for both. considering the pens play boston the caps have the easier road. pens lose to boston the pressure rises even greater on them. pens win vs boston, they let down against the caps.

The Oilers aren't really a poor team, they're simply erratic. With luck, Hemsky's absence will be enough for a home win, for a team that could use a bounce-back game.

D pairings for tonight, per Tarik:

Quote:
Alzner-Jurcina
Erskine-Green
Morrisonn-Schultz
The Erskine-Green pairing doesn't overly thrill me, but we'll see.

If Green doesn't go all young bucking up and down the ice and plays somewhat responsible, with a pinch here and there...I think they could be decent together.

Still waiting for the Green - Alzner pairing that was teased in the preseason.
