I just want more passion. I can deal with a loss if there is passion.

I just saw a little during a business phone call, but didnt caps have multiple chances to score inside of ten feet away? I understand about getting traffic for long range shots, but they need to be finishing when they close like that.

Sounds like Hanlon's Caps. Passion + L= a top 5 pick with respect.

Mike Green had a few games worth of chances in that one period.

I don't get how this team can come out with a first period like that after two losses.

Selfish/lazy penalties by Semin and Fedorov looks slow as crap.

They should be embarassed to have not scored on a team with an atrocious defense like that. How many giveaways was that in the first?!!?

Absolutely putrid effort.

Green can shoot all he wants from the circles with no screen and nothing is going to happen.

Jesus it's like half of you guys are watching a completely different game. The caps heavily outplayed Edmonton in that period, and honestly with the exception of maybe getting to the net in a few more instances I cant think of much more they could have done.

Scoring on the 5 on 3 would have been nice but at least they'll have a good minute or so on clean ice to start the second.

They played well, and are losing. It happens sometimes. If they play like that for all three periods I would be more than happy.

Edit: With the exception of Semin. We need Fed's to start getting on him again about these stupid penalties that I thought he was starting to eliminate from his game.

Those two goals are on Jurcina IMO. His man had his stick on the ice and had time to dangle on the PP goal and on the first goal he turned it over from behind the net. Tell me I wrong. Sloan, Cullins, ANYONE is better.

Besides the defensive breakdowns on the goals and maybe a bit of criticism of Theodore, I think you guys should take it easier on your own team. Let's face it, you OWNED us for the first 10 minutes of the first period and if it wasn't for Roloson it'd be 4 or 5 goals for the Caps already.

I actually don't mind the result so far. Maybe they'll begin to learn that they can't snipe their way to victory all the time and start to actually attack as a team.

Jurcina didn't get another shift after his pathetic PK 'work.'

I think we have seen the 15 or 20 shots to 6 first period a lot lately and they have lost them all. Philly, Columbus, now Edmonton. Its more than chicken little. Its a trend

Agreed.

I think comments like "putrid effort" in reference to that period is just laughable. To say, based on one 34 second 5 on 3, there is poor powerplay coaching is also ridiculous.

I'm not worried. If anything maybe the boys are a little too much in their heads. Thinking about the next home ice goal instead of just playing, but they'll be fine. They are playing well. Some more traffic would be good, but I'm not seeing anything to freak out about. "1st round exit written all over it" - no.

Yea owning teams and losing is so much fun. Here you guys can own us for the last 40 minutes if we can get the win.

OK well first of all they haven't lost this game yet. After that you mentioned two games. That's not a trend, that's two games. And Mason has been stoning everyone.

Go watch another program. We'll still be here when you come back.

What game are you watching exactly, the version where the Caps take quality shots instead of wasted ones, the version where the Caps are up 2-0 instead of down?

You would be happy if they play like that and lose? That's the new generation for you, happy with "perceived" effort but no results.

I'm just saying, it's not due to poor play on the Caps part. It's mainly due to one hot goalie. If you guys were playing badly and losing, then it would be a different story.

Nylander and Kozlov is a good way to kill a power play.

The Caps took mostly low chance shots. They can sit back and shoot into Rolly's chest for days and never get one through. I didn't see more than 1 or 2 tough saves.
