Not a bad 3 way deal but Flyers getting a whole bunch of nothing. Players we already have in O'Bryne & Vellieux and of course Harding is a goalie we do not have. We have no goalie prospects and HF board "Philadelphia Flyers Featured" does not look good.

I rather talk to Panthers and see what they want for Bouwmeester and what kind of money he is looking to make. Start the trade with Lupul and Jones/Carle plus a pick and a prospect (Nodl or Bodrov or Marshall or Matsumoto) for Jay. At least make a phone call and find out.

Draft goalies.

Flyers still have Coburn, Parent, Sbisa and maybe we'll keep Vaananen too. Timonen is a stud but he has problem playing against players like Malkin, LeCavalier players with size.

I am all for inquiring about J-Bo, but this deal would get us another good defensive prospect, a very good 3rd liner, and a young RFA goaltender who looks to be ready to challenge for a starting job. Plus, we get, sweet, sweet cap space, which can use to lock up Harding, possibly re-sign Veillieux (UFA, currentl a $863K cap hit), and also for JVR, if he is a Flyer next season. He could be about a $3.2 million cap hit or so. O'Byrne can go to the Phantoms for now, possibly to play with Parent on a pairing and help create some chemistry for later.

This group of skaters would rock:

Gagne-Richards-Knuble
Hartnell-Carter-Briere
Upshall-Metropolit-Veillieux
Cote-Powe-Asham
Gratton, Kalinski

Timonen-Coburn
Carle-Vaananen
Alberts-Kukkonen
Parent/O'Byrne/Guenin/Whoever

If it makes you feel better, Harding is the real deal. There is a reason the Wild haven't locked up Backstrom yet.

One of the two will be traded this season, or Harding will be trading immediately after. The team can't afford to lock up Backstrom for 5 million/year and then lock up Harding for another 1.5-2.5 million/year.

Backstrom wants to stay in Minnesota and he's the better goalie now, but Harding would be cheaper and younger, plus he's getting better and better.

This deal will give us RFA goalie. Thats all it will give us. Do we actually need more d-sive prospects? We have Parent who should be in NHL in AHL. Who knows where Sbisa will end up. We have Marshall and Marc-Andre Bourdon in training camp next year. Both improving. Some guys in AHL too. Whats so special about Veillieux I mean seriously?

Fernandez was #1 in Minn. He is number 2 now.

I am not too crazy about this deal.

Rather move Knuble for a 3rd line with size and speed and 2nd or 3rd and give ice time to Lupul and Giroux.

If Lupul gets his ice time he will score points. Might be easier to move during the draft if cap goes down.
