Of those, I've kept up with Breaking Bad and Seinfeld. I've seen S1 of Boardwalk and episodes of The Wire, Six Feet Under and Doctor Who. Game of Thrones is on my list of series to start.

Dexter is by far my favorite though. Walking Dead I just started watching, and its pretty good.

It's a hard life being an O's fan. I will say though if it's between Boston and New York I'd definitely go for Boston.

In the span of one day I saw a Leafs jersey, Penguins jersey and even a Thrasher jersey. I actually even knew a few Thrasher fans up there. Also one of the bouncers at Galileo's is a Capitals fan, and the barback at Portofino's is Chard LaRose's twin, though he always wears a Penguins hat. Not sure where all of these people came from.

There are a lot. I wore a Canucks shirt one day (they're my second favorite team) and I was going to class when I passed a guy in a Bruins shirt. We actually just looked at each other for a few seconds and then just broke out laughing.

It tends to happen. Hell, my favorite bartender is a life long Caps fan, we get along great on all things except for discussion about Dale Hunter. We came to the conclusion that discussing him is off limits, although now that he's a coach that's about to change.

All this in a town as small as Boone, NC though? That's a little strange.

Ill be bringing my Checkers shirt up there this weekend, so at least that's some sort of home representation.

And yes, Arrested Development is lacking. I really need to go back and watch that series again. Wonder if the whole thing is still on Hulu.

True enough. Although Apex isn't exactly huge either.

It's funny, Boone, for whatever reason, is a hotbed of hockey fandom. I mean I can understand a bit since it's a younger crowd in that town then most places and for whatever reason if there's any two sports that appeal to the hipster crowd it's soccer and hockey. And frankly Boone has more then its fair share of those types. Who knows really, it's hard to say. You never know where you'll meet people who are fans of teams at though. Hell when I was in Morgantown I was friends with people from no less then a dozen other teams, not including the Pens who are the predominant fanbase in that area. Two of us were going nuts in the 02 playoffs down at BW3s when the Canes knocked off the Devils and the same night the Kings forced a game 7 vs Colorado hoping for a Kings vs Canes final.

How you became a hockey fan: I don't remember a specific moment, but I grew up pretending to be Irbe around age 6 or 7. I had these slipper things that I "skated" in around the house and "saved" shots from my brother. I eventually joined an inline hockey league and played defense for 8 years.
How you became a Canes fan: My dad got tickets for the 2002 Stanley Cup finals game vs Detroit and I was instantly hooked. After, I began watching hockey all the time.
Favorite thing about being a Canes fan: Being able to go to games and get good tickets for a good price.

Music You Listen To: Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, "old" rock
Favorite Movie(s): Don't really like movies.
Favorite Book(s): I have never read a book for enjoyment.
Favorite Food(s): Anything my mom cooks. My mom grew up in Louisiana so my family has a lot of Cajun recipes that we eat a lot. Nothing my mom makes is ever bad.
Favorite TV Show(s): Chopped, Anything sports related
Hockey Jerseys In Wardrobe: Nothing personalized but I have Away, Home, and Alternate jerseys in my closet. I also have every jersey from when I played.
Anything Else: I know this might be a little personal, but I realized at too early of an age that life is too short when I almost died from a heat stroke when I was practicing outside. I can still remember the day clearly and am still amazed that I did not suffer any permanent damage, mostly due to my EMS doctors.

First of all, welcome to the boards. I'm sure you'll enjoy the discussion on here, along with the massive amount of recurring sarcasm and jokes that run rampant on here.

Now, to address the bolded items:

-The whole switching from UNC to NCSU thing might lead to arguments. Unless it's due to attending State next year and switching allegiance due to that, be prepared to endure a giant, never-ending argument about it.

-If you had to pick right now, what would be your favorite Foo Fighters song? Yes, you have to pick just one.

-That last part is somewhat frightening. It really puts things in perspective when something serious happens to you like that all of the sudden. You can only hope for the best, and hope that there is no permanent damage or lingering affects over time. It's great to hear that EMS was able to get to you and take care of you quickly enough to avoid all of that. I was also lucky with a situation in January last year, suffering no permanent damage or ill effects out of a set of bizarre circumstances.

That said, I hope you absolutely love it here. Remember, the sarcasm smiley is your friend.

Honestly, I've loved UNC, but the cheating scandal was enough to make the transition to State easier. Also, I feel like it would be a wasted opportunity in college to not go to games and feel like part of the school. I get semi teased about it with my family, but they understand why I chose State so it doesn't bother me. Who knows, maybe in the end I will switch back.

For the Foo Fighters, tough question. This might sound cliche, but the song I connect to the most is my hero just because of the heat stroke thing. I get emotional when I hear the song because I know I am lucky and was saved by people who didn't think that they would have to save anyone that day. The whole experience has put a whole different spin on life that I had never seen before. I've come to realize that you should live in the moment instead of worrying about what others are thinking about you. Mistakes happen, learn from them, and move on is now my thought process instead of constantly feeling like everyone's eyes are on me. It's amazing how much more fun life is when you are constantly worrying about something. *End depressing speech*

I'm glad you're okay too. Now, I'm ready to talk hockey.

It's only fair that if I made you pick a song, that I have to pick one also. Hmm....umm.....well....let's see....crap. I'm having more trouble with this than I thought I would. I've literally sat here for three minutes contemplating between DOA, best of you, monkey wrench, and all my life. Let's just say monkey wrench to keep it narrowed down to one choice.

As far as the learning how to avoid constantly worrying about something, that's a skill I still have yet to learn. I worry about almost anything and everything to the point where I don't enjoy the little things in life as much as I should. I worry about what might happen as a consequence of some action, rather than what will happen. *End depressing speech of my own*

What brought you to HF Boards: Be able to talk hockey with people outside of school.
Favorite Cane's Player(s): Brandon Sutter and Justin Faulk
Favorite NON Cane's Player(s): Duncan Keith (admired his toughness with the teeth incident in the playoffs)
Other Sports You Like: College Football, College Basketball, NFL, MLB
Other Sports Teams You Cheer For: Carolina Panthers, UNC Tarheels (Infant to 17), NCSU Wolfpack (17 and on), Detroit Tigers
College Attended/Attending: NCSU Engineering next year
Video Game Systems Owned: Xbox 360, PS3
Favorite Game(s): NHL series (EA is lazy, but there is no alternative), Call of Duty, Rockstar games
This was basically my childhood as well. I started following hockey during that same year
