Defensive help for WBS to make a playoff run? It's really surprising that they never gave Webb a chance with the big club, and instead played guys like Buchberger, Holzinger, and McKenna.

i can't even see him being in the lineup. there was a reason the isles didn't bring him back originally.

This sucks. Webb is awesome and it would have been at least entertaining to watch him play for Pittsburgh after our young guys are sent down.

We get, basically a goon, right NYI fans?

definitely a setup move...I think that since they can't send one of the kids donw, that one is going in a trade. WEbb will rotate with Godard, and one of the kids is gone albeit weinhandl or papineau

So do I, especially if they play like they did during our last game. I Could care less about Webb being there, the guy is a coward.

Agitating? I just stated the truth. Nothing agitating about it.

Finally, the blockbuster deal I was hoping for!

Face it, the Cup is now coming to Long Island!

***

All joking aside, if they make the playoffs the Isles would be better off with Webb in the lineup than Godard a majority of the time. Fighting (except for Isles/Leafs :p ) is rare, especially outside of the first few games of the first round. Webb, as limited as he is skill-wise, can change the complexion of a game simply with one 30 second shift (and a couple of bodychecks). Godard cannot.

He can bring life back to a team that sometimes lacks it. And yes, you want players like that on your fourth line rather than waif-like "prospects" like Papineau, Mapletoft and even Weinhandl, come post-season.

usually the isles site puts this stuff up quickly, alot of times first. So maybe there is something else going on that will be announced tonight (along with the Webb trade) as the isles page doesnt mention the addition of Webb as of yet. of course now that i mentioned it, i'm sure its going to be put up as soon as I hit the post button.

I would have much rathered trading Webb for a late pick in 2004 then some minor league scrub.

Webb is a minor league scrub, so it isn't that bad of a deal. I'm suprised that the Pens got anything in return.

Yes, we are all crazy with jealousy. The Islanders acquired a player (if you can call him that) that didn't crack the Pens lineup.

Glad to see Steve Webb back...but unfortunately Stirling will have no clue how to use him and he will have him riding the pine for the most part. That's too bad really!!

I think Webb is awesome even if some might think he's a coward...I dunno I just love the guy...I think his nickname is "Train Wreck" if I'm not mistakened too lol. I just remember one time in the '02 playoffs when Darcy Tucker was messing with some Islander and Steve Webb basically destroyed him against the boards, it was awesome. I am not a Leaf-hater or Darcy Tucker-hater, but the hit was awesome, ever since I've liked the guy for w/e reason.

Webb is great for energizing people in the Playoffs; I was watching my Don Cherry 14 DVD, Isles vs. Leafs(AMAZING series, IMO) and Webb was just a wrecking ball, hitting everything in site. Should've been Webb vs. Leafs.

Good move, IMO.
