Garon - How Long?

This guy's so good he's gonna force a trade. I hate to say it, but he'll be dealt within the year, methinks. He's just too good to stay a backup. I just hope he doesn't go to Philly! lol What a game tonight!

Not this year... We must keep him around until we can play with a poor backup

I agree... I was thinking at the end of next year, if there is one.

46 saves on 48 shots, and there are a couple of really tough one that he made. I smell another ****-fight between goalies in the future (next year or one after)

I've said it before, this is Garon's last season in Montreal. He will be moved in the off-season and get a shot at a #1 job like he deserves. But BG is not going to trade him this year because we need him incase Theo goes down.

Also the only potential back-up we have is Michaud and he need at least 2 full year as the starter in Hamilton .

He'll probably get moved in the off-season... maybe around draft-time?

Too bad, too. I like the guy... Theo & Garon make a damn good duo.

Damphousse would play over Michaud.

he's truely the reason we got the 2 points,
everybody else looked tired and flat tonight, the key to making the playoffs is getting wins when you dont deserve it.
he's an awsome backup.

hmmm, last i recall, someone had mentioned that Garon had potential to be BETTER then Theo. so i believe that well be keeping him around, to see how that goes. and the reason why he's supposed to be better is cuz he's taller/bigger than theo, wich makes a huge difference. i really wouldnt want to see him with any other team, to tell u the truth. not until were a serious force and we wont need to rely on top notch goal tending every game.

Maybe we could trade it at the end of next year to a team that will have the 1st pick in the 2005 draft
so we could get crosby

Crosby will land a terrific package. If the Habs were to go after Crosby, Garon would only be one of the appetizers amongst our huge offer.

Is Garon's contract ending soon? The league isn't expanding anytime soon.
What's wrong with having two good goaltenders on the team? I don't see any reason to trade him.

Exactly. We have something that other team dont have in 2 very good goaltenders. It can just do us good. I mean some teams are stil trying to find a number for theire playoffs run.

I Think that Halak may have a chance to impress you all at the next training camp...

I prefer him to Michaud and Damphousse...

What's up with Halak? He's rated 13th overall on Montreal's prospect pool. Why so high? Isn't it a little early to tell?

I think that Theodore needs a backup goalie that can put pressure on him to preform. His off years have been when there was no backup pressure and his better seasons were when he had backup pressure.

I would keep Garon at all cost. There is no need to trade him even if he is considered a future no.1 goaltender...Why trade to trade ?

However, i would trade him for 2 things:

1.A first draft pick from a very bad team (Was, Car, etc...) for 2004 or 2005
2.Garon + another player to land a guy like O'Neill, Smyth or Satan...

What do you think?

Garon will not be trade next year. Montreal will keep him to increase is value cause right now, it's not that high. And when he will be trade, it will be to a team in the western conference, not the eastern...

I'm not sure how much value Garon has. Most teams already have their goalie, their backup and their goalie of the future. Remember, Garon cleared waivers less than a year ago.

People say a lot of things, Val Bure was supposed to be better then Pavel and Henrik Sedin was supposed to be the next Forsberg. These are just comments made a few years back, time proved they were wrong.

To me, Garon is a top goalie in this league and sometimes I would prefer to keep him over THeodore, i'd just like to see how he can perform with many games because we could very well have a great one. However, Theodore is a top 5 goalie and you just don't get rid of that.

I only saw Halak once but I was impressed. He's ranked so high cause he's 18, was the top goalie at the U-18's, one of the top goalies at the U-20's (faced the most shots, yet had very impressive numbers, imo). But what really is impressive are his numbers in every league he's played. He's played in the junior league, where he's been the top goalie number wise. He's played in the mens league as well where he also had very good numbers in his short stay. He may be overhyped or underhyped I really can't say since I don't have much to go off of, but I do see him as clearly our top goalie prospect, with Joni Puurula 2nd.

I can't see Garon traded, he may not have much value around the league compared with how good he may turn out to be. I'd hold onto him and try and get him a few more starts next year, while giving Theo a little more rest.

I'm pretty sure the Avs are looking pretty hard at acquiring a backup. Not saying I want to see Garon go, because I don't, but I wouldn't doubt if there have been some inquiries as to his 'availability.' Especially after today's drubbing with Sauve in net.
