i could see the devils picking him back up, as his best years were with them. ni the preds\NYR game last week, he was easily the best d-man the rags had.

What would the Rags want for him? Is he the big Dman the Preds need? I'd rather not give more than a mid-round pick for a player who'll only play a 1/4th of a season for us.

And I don't think it's the Devs you are thinking of. Maybe the Isles or the Habs?

I'd take him for an 8th pick for sure. Maybe a 7th. Maybe even a 6th.

Malakhov's best years were not with the Devils. He was at his best with the Islanders and Habs, just before he went to NJ.

I heard on the Team990 (Montreal sports) late last week that the Habs also had interest in Malakhov. No word on what they might offer, but i would assume that it would be nothing more than a pick.

Doubt the Isles or Habs would want malakhov

Isles need a creasecleaner....not a floater

I wasn't saying the Isle were a suitor, just that the team he was thinking of (the one where he played so well with) was not the Devils and either the Isles or the Habs.

Umm... Malakhov never played a full season with NJ. The most memorable thing he did was get his skull cracked open when he hit the open penalty box in the Toronto series, I think it was. And he scored a goal in the Philly series. (This is all 2000.)

Then he signed with NY. He played maybe 20 games for us.

I didn't know Malakhov even had "best years".

Well his first two seasons in NY, he had 52 and 55 pts...that's not bad. Also his last couple of seasons in Montreal he was pretty darn good. Inconsistent at times yes, but he was pretty good on the PP, and was effective when you gave him a match-up role.

Really his career took a turn for the worse when he left Montreal. It's a shame with this guy, cause on talent alone, he could have been one of the great ones.

No actually on ESPN last night they were saying that Malakhov's best years were in NJ... But I am sure that NJ does not want him back and they wouldn't trade with Sather and the NYR... He could be going to Ottawa or some team in the West...
