Edler is good, but SJ's defense doesn't need him, especially at the price of Clowe.

Nope. Not gonna happen.

Three NHL players (top six forwards, top 2 D), and two first round prospects (including the best defenseman prospect the Sharks have). (Sharks haven't had a 1st round pick for a few seasons, don't have one for 2009, and I don't know they'll want to give up another for the following year. Currently, they only have four picks for the 2009 draft, in three rounds.)

I cannot see how this improves the Sharks, short or long term. These are all non-UFAs, some signed or RFA rights held for many years. The NHL players are part of the core of the organization.

Does not fill a need of the Sharks.
Boy did that joke not register.

If it was any other team, I'd point out the same. Don't take things so seriously, I have no vendetta against the Leafs.

So the answer to upgrading on Christian Ehrhoff is to trade their 2nd line winger and keep Ehrhoff anyway. That makes sense. Let's not get too carried away with Edler here. He's got promise and is getting better but he's got a long way to go to being a top pairing defenseman in this league, if he ever gets that far. Personally, I don't see him as being much more than a high-quality 2nd pairing guy much like Ehrhoff is.

Edler is too valuable at this point. We have Sami "Glassbone" Salo and Shane "Freebie" O'Brien, we need all the depth on D we can get.

Ryane Clowe would not have nearly the amount of points he does if he isn't playing for the Sharks. No way the Canucks do this deal.

Gillis would take this and run for the hills.

I'm quite settled thank you.
I don't take anything on this board seriously.
The Leaf jab had nothing to do with this thread, therefore it was needless.

When you're winning, you do not make significant changes. If they can add without subtracting anything from their roster at the deadline, no doubt the Sharks will consider it.

Yet right now, they have no need to alter the complexion of their team.

Come again?

Clowe has generally been playing with Michalek and Pavelski... not Marleau or Thornton.

So maybe you should rethink your statement.

I'd also like to politely decline this deal.

I'd like to know what this is based on. People in Vancouver have been crying to have someone play with the Sedins for years. Ryane Clowe would be perfect. He's big, strong, sticks up for his teammates, has amazing hands to be a half-wall QB, and will stand in front of the net as well.

Maybe someone's still bitter over last Saturday.

There are only two scenarios that I see Doug Wilson makes a move. One, the Sharks go into a free fall before the deadline. Two, somebody offers the Sharks a sweetheart deal.
