I have seen Alzner on ice for a lot of goals lately. Maybe this is an reality check sit for him. Its mere speculation of course by Corey and myself. I would think its Jurcina since we called up a rightie and he has been under the gun.

Erskine has flaws just like Jurcina...but still has upside. I didn't really like the contract extension at first...but I get it. He's usually a mean angry defender...that in itself is an upside the Caps don't have in the system right now that is ready to play minutes. He's only 28...still room to grow.

Jurcina also has plenty of room to grow as well...so I'm not just backing one of the two.
There was a play last night where Erskine was between the Oilers blue line and the red line as the play began, with all 3 Caps forwards and Mike Green in the offensive zone forechecking. Erskine was the 4th Capital to make it to the Caps own zone as the play went up ice.

I understand the need for Erskine, but he's got to be the Slowest player I've seen in a long time.

Lol, I noticed it too. But he also had a shift where he crunched three people in a span of thirty seconds. We desperately need a physical presence on the backend, and he and Jurch are the only ones who provide it. The difference between the two though is that Erskine will stand up for his mates if the other team wants to play that type of game. Jurcina has more offensive upside, but we need the sandpaper more than the occasional boomer from the point.

Schultz is soft, but damn he got bowled over like he was the size of Chris Bourque last night. That was embarassing.

lol at txpd who edit implied corey implied that alzner was the scratch in his question during the podcast. I am sticking by my guns and saying its juice to sit. I like how he pounded the milkman a few years back, and hope he does it again tonight if in the lineup.

Erskine Green
Mo Sarge
Alzner Helmer

I will be able to take a loss if we come out on top in the physicality department. Hopefully Bradley wont be dumb enough to take on their chief punk again.

LOL sorry man, I just thought it was funny. I edited my post. Stretch instantly countered that Alzner is doubtful to be sat based on previous game minutes.

Interesting that it looks like Theo will be starting. I guess Boudreau has more confidence in him despite last night's game.

Doesn't Alzner being a scratch kind of make sense considering we'll shortly need to decide whether or not to send him down? Gotta see how the D functions without him.

Lol. That's a pretty funny post. Very nice.

Edit: Hrm. The post is not here any longer! Something about pens winning 7-1 malkin with 7 goals and crosby fighting. It was humorous and i'm sad it's gone!

Pens will be gifted an early 2-0 lead from dodgy calls.
Laich will get some loose stuff out in front and then another dodgy call will see Fedotenko restore the 2 goal lead.

second period, Ovi will destroy Malkin on the wall, prompting a response and PP from an over exuberant Orpik.
Caps will score through Backstrom late in the PP
and then brash will drop the gloves with bisconette (sp?)

third period will be Ovi Backis Semin time playing against the Pens top unit and scoring 2 quick goals through Ovi and Ovi.

Pens will push hard late but too worried about the physical play of Ovechkin, take bad penalties and have us ending the game with an empty net PP goal to Ovi to secure the hattrick.

Morrisonn is the scratch due to a lower body injury and Clark will take a seat so that Fehr can play.

Tarik has the D pairings as:

Green - Erskine
Alzner - Helmer
Schultz - Jurcina

Gulp.

Amen brother...

I expect the boys to be pumped for this game. Hopefully they get one early or it'll be a long night.
