Dynamic Duo Goalie Tandems

After watching most of the Kings/Canadiens game last night, I'm thinking that the Habs probably have the best goalie duo in the League.

Of the possible playoff teams... rate the best goalie tandem. I'll make my list later b/c my pc is acting a wee bit wacky right now and my posts keep getting taken over by some cyber monster.

Edit: By list, I mean best to worst, so there should probably be around 10 teams from the east and 10 teams from the west.

I second that, both Theo and Garon have been pretty solid this year.
I also like the Nabokov/Toskala tandem.

I probably wasn't really clear in my original post... I was looking for a list of the possible playoff teams' goalie tandem from best to worst.

For example:

East

#1 Canadiens: Theodore/Garon
#2 ?
#3 ?

etc. all the way down to 10, and do the same for the west.

Bulin/Grahame is the best this year. Cujo/Legace is a good tandem.

i would say they really are the only 2 contenders.

both teams have used both goaltenders effectively [rather required to or not] and maintained their record as well. 2 top teams in the league both using 2 goaltenders regulary [sp?].

Lately:

Cloutier/Hedberg. We have a goalie controversy now.

Second.

Us Pens fans were really sorry to see Hedberg go. He really is a great goalie.

Top 3 in the NHL:

Khabibulin/Grahame
Nabakov/Toskala
Theodore/Garon

In that order.

Theodore and Garon is one hell of a duo, the best right now in the NHL and possibly in years.

I'm assuming your wink guy means that you're kidding b/c I don't think there's a goalie controversy in Van. Having two good goalies going down the final stretch, challenging each other is a great situation for both the goalies and the team.

Hey! Roloson/Fernandez ain't bad...They beat the Avs and the Nucks last year and have put up solid numbers this year (though I agree that Fern is sagging a bit!)

Probably around the 5th best in the league.

I'm fairly happy with Kiprusoff/Turek although I'd definitely rate Detroit's, Tampa's and San Jose's ahead of them. I'm not sure Garon is experienced enough to be able to put the Canadiens in the top 3. I like Cloutier but I don't think he's in a top 3 tandem either.

1. Tampa
2. San Jose
3. Detroit

They're great but they're not a possible playoff team.

Best goalie tandem in the league for the playoffs:

New Jersey

Martin Brodeur and whoever the hell his backup is. Brodeur is bar none the best playoff goalie in the NHL.

But if you want them ranked based on both the starting goalie as well as the back-up, this is how I'd rank them:

West

1.) Evgenyi Nabokov and Vesa Toskala
2.) Curtis Joseph and Manny Legace
3.) Marty Turco and Ron Tugnutt
4.) Dan Cloutier and Johan Heberg
5.) David Aebischer and Phil Sauve
6.) Mikka Kipprusoff and Roman Turek
7.) Tomas Vokoun and Chris Mason
8.) Roman Cechmanek and Cristobal Huet

East

1.) Nikolai Khabibulin and John Grahame
2.) Jose Theodore and Mathieu Garon
3.) Martin Brodeur and Corey Schwab?
4.) Ed Belfour and Trevor Kidd/Mikael Tellqvist
5.) Andrew Raycroft and Felix Potvin
6.) Sean Burke and Robert Esche
7.) Patrick Lalime and Martin Prusek
8.) Rick DiPietro and Garth Snow

My homer pick is Cloutier/Hedberg, I think that is a brilliant duo.

If Cujo is fully healthy come playoffs, the Wings will have easily the best duo in the league in Cujo/Legace. Legace could be a starter on any other team, and Cujo is a proven playoff performer.
