OK, on hot stove "teams" in the east have been said to be interested in Kolzig:

To BFLO: Kolzig + Witt
To WAS: Biron, McKee + 2004 2nd

The Salary the sabes take on makes this kind of unfounded, but wht do folks think?

No thanks. The Sabres get older and paticularly more expensive without much guaranteed improvement.

Counter-offer: Witt for Kristek and a pick.

Caps give up the cheaper, more durable dman, and we don't need any friggen goalies.

I'll take Afinigenov and a 2nd in 06 for Witt.

Cheaper? Hmmmm... Witt's making $1.75 million, McKee is making $1.7 million. Is this "the new math" at work?

Durable? This season Jay's had a knee injury that he came back too early on. Prior to this year, the differences in games played point to Witt has missed 70 games to injury to McKee's 46 over the previous 5 seasons. Not to mention Witt's older and has had been dinged considerably more ofter.

24 year old 20 goal scorer and a 2nd for a guy not close to playing to his reputation, 29 and with a history of brittleness of his own? No.

Acquiring Kolzig would be one of the worst possible moves this organization could make. It's a complete step backwards.

There's not one single part of that trade that I like.

Makes little sense for both teams. Buffalo is going to be a seller, and the Caps are looking to rid themselves of a goalie, not swap Kolzig for another one.

Are you kidding me? This has to be one of the worst proposals I have ever, ever seen. How do you find this fair to the Sabres in any way?

Kolzig is older and much more expensive (and not better) than Biron
Witt is older and about the same cost as McKee while being about the same player when McKnee is healthy.
And you want Buffalo to give up a pick on top of that? And you find a 2nd round selection to be appropriate? This should get an immediate induction to the Proposal Hall of Shame.
