Major Penalty Will Not Go On A. Kostitsyn's Record

"Canadiens coach Guy Carbonneau said Wednesday that the team was informed by the NHL that the major penalty would not go on Kostitsyn's record, so he will not be considered a repeat offender if there are any more incidents this year."

Yeah too bad the powerplay cost us the game. I wonder if they can take back the goal?

That wouldn't do any good, it was 3-1, we'd still lose

Still not exactly clear what this means.....does it mean it shouldn't have been a major penalty?

Is it an admittal from the league that it was a bad call?

That's about as close to an admission of bad officiating as I've ever seen from the NHL front office. Doesn't help matters now, but the first step is admitting you have a problem...

Well, they can't go back in time and it's not likely to make a difference in the end, but it's good to have some justification when we claim the official screwed up.

NHL is to blame as much... two best teams in the East + the rivalry between said teams... and the best you could do is Brian Lee ?? must be a joke...

I have watched the vid a number of times on youtube and the thing that bothers me is that Thomas only got 2 minutes for coming out of his crease and attacking an unsuspecting player with a high stick. He was lucky he didn't connect with his stick because he sure tried to. as far as the boarding call.....2 minutes at best. And since they got away with a similar offence in front of the player's boxes without a penalty, it should have been nothing. chris lee...

Actually the ref was going to give a penalty to us,Hammer I think for trying to take the puck away from Ryder. We would have been short handed with 2 minutes left

I do not mind a missed call here or there. To err is to be human. However, in this case, this is sheer incompetence on the part of the the NHL officiating team last night. It seems that we are given the short end of the the stick when it comes to officials. Carolina and now against Boston. Chris Lee should not ref another Habs game in his life.

Chris Lee always refs like a retard against the Habs, don't know if he's like that with every team...

Yes. And to prove that the habs actually had legitimate right to be as pissed as we were.

Yes, that was him too. But it was SummerSlam '94.
