By that time.. Vinny's NMC is in effect.. why would he want to goto buffalo?

Dallas already has Richards from TB we don't need Vinny nor can we afford his ridiculous contract.

Not to mention having a cap hit of 7.7m until 2020. What if he's not earning his keep in 5 years? We're stuck with a ridiculous contract and a guy past his prime. Between the returns Kaberle and Antropov can bring, and the two potential lottery picks, and whoever we decide to sign from the free agent market, I think our rebuild is better off than with an expensive 29 year old.

We're the Leafs. We don't need a franchise player to attract fans.

The Leafs don't have enough to offer for Lecavalier and even if we did decide to trade multiple picks and young players for him i don't think Lecavalier is enough to make us contenders and we would probably be taking a step backwards in rebuilding because we would give up to much. It would turn out to be like Kovalchuk in Atlanta, sure we would have that one special player but that one player won't get you anywhere unless he has a decent team to play with him.

Tampa would want youth back.

This makes no sense from either side. Value-wise, the Leafs get ripped off.
Yea, because Burke builds his team through the draft. His record is impeccable

Despite Burke saying he wants to rebuild the team through proper developing and drafting, are you suggesting that he's going to trade more picks and youth for an expensive 29 year old that will play with a couple third and fourth liners?

I have a feeling people are going to be sorely disappointed in the return should Lecavalier get traded if they're expecting proposals like these:
Quote:
Schenn,Stajan,Antropov,Kaberle,2 1st's
Quote:
Schenn
Kaberle
Antropov
Pogge
and a first rounder

nope, buffalo would be allowed to go over the cap after the stanley cup finals are over, so this could happen before july 1st.

Haha...just because those players are on a bad team doesn't make them garbage.

And the much speculated Higgins, the Kostitsins, and Subban is much closer to Vinny's worth.

Wouldn't happen. Darcy wouldn't take on a contract like that... Myers is a future impact defenseman, who has size. Adam is a powerforward center, who could make an impact in the next few years. Pominville, who albeit struggling right now, is one of three of our good wingers... I wouldn't do it.

I actually think DAL could have some pull on Lecavalier with Richards being a his best friend... We'd have to dump a tremendous amount of players to get him which I wouldn't want but you gotta think we have better chances than most.

This trade will happen if the salary cap goes away, and when Hell freezes over.

HUGE overpayment by the Penguins. Theres no way they give up good young assests for an aging St Louis thats about exit his prime. I cannot see in any way shape or form that the Pens give up Staal and the only foward coming back is St Louis. Not to mention Whits AND the first.

Wow Pittsburgh gets hosed in this deal and doesn't even get the best player.

Pittsburgh recieves: Komisarek and St. Louis

Pittsburgh gives: Staal, Whitney, 1st round pick

They give a very good defenseman signed to a reasonable contract, a young center who is poised and plays a lot of minutes, and a first round pick which could be anywhere from 10-20. We can't afford to lose another top pick:

All they recieve is an excellent defenseman but is an UFA who could leave or be expensive, and a winger who is getting older.

i dont really think tampa would do this as the montreal deal also included two first gorges and higgins and you replaced them with staal whitney a first and second as wells as sending st louis to pitts. i'd say the only team that does this right now is pitts, no from both montreal and tampa.
