The Trotz effect:

Down by 1 with 50 seconds to go. Put in Tootoo the goal scorer....

This is becoming a common theme with Trotz. Remember when Arnott called him out on it? You don't put your friggin checking line out there with 1:xx left.

Well at least Tootoo won his fight.

Too many bad bounces against us. And too many times missed/wide shots for us.

If the Preds had anyone that could shoot they would have made MTL pay for missing the empty net about 7 times at the end of the game.

I liked Sulzer out there. I thought he did well for his first NHL Game.

Missed everything after the Dumont goal but the stats sheet does not look favorably upon us tonight. 13 total giveaways, 2 from every defenseman except Sulzer, and he rarely saw the ice. Tootoo had more TOI than Sulzer tonight. Klein played all of 15:18. Koistinen played 21:30.

*sigh* Trotz...

I thought we played really well, had some awful bounces go against us. Philstrom and Santorelli have got to start burying those chances or we might as well send them back to Milwaukee.

Pihlström is gone after the All-Star break. He's had ample opportunity to show the staff what he can do, and while I love his speed and tenacity, he seems almost devoid of offensive skill.

top 10

1. agreed on Pihls, I dont think he can hack it here much longer

2. I was embarrased for Begin, why do people keep picking fights with Tootoo?

3. Bonk with another Game winning goal!

4. At least we have a good excuse for losing this game with Arnott and Weber out

5. Sully is amazing to watch, imagine if he was at 100%

6. The Montreal goal horn is weak, it sounds like someone parked an old Buick in the rafters.

7. The Canadians are fun to watch when they enter the zone, I thought for sure they were going to dance all over Klein and Koistinen last night.

8. Zanon actually had a pretty good game outside of the horrible screen job he pulled on Rinne during the first goal against.

9. I dont know what was more pathetic: our attempt to amount an offensive with the goalie pulled or Montreal's attempt to shoot the puck into a wide open net.

10. and JP breaks the slump!

Klein's shot was what scored that goal, the redirect was very minor by JP.

Koistenen was terrible......all....night....long. Then he skates to the center of the offensive zone and drops a bomb on net, which Fiddler promptly taps the rebound in. Then he goes back to playing stupid hockey. The thing that kills me about this guy are all over the place - For an offensive defensemen, he has ZERO awareness. Last night he threw about three passes to no one. Crisp and Terry were even joking saying they had NO IDEA what he was thinking....because he basically took a slap shot into the faceoff circle (thats right, he didn't put a slap shot on net, he put a slap shot on the the faceoff circle.....huh?). Additionally, he can't keep a beach ball in the zone, especially on the powerplay. Defensively, he gets caught standing still at least twice a game. There is simply no reason to put him on the ice....he is terrible...He is the worst defensemen we have iced since Jaime Allison IMO.

As for Pihlstrom, I think expectations around him are way way too high. We signed him as a pest/3rd line energy guy that wasn't afraid to shoot and go to the net. What has he done? Exactly the above ^^^. He is a rookie, he is pressing, but the work ethic and passion are there. He is playing well, just not converting. I'm not sure I see the reason to send him down because he fits on the third line. Heck, I would much rather see him out there than Jordin "I suck at everything but hitting and I don't hit anymore" Tootoo.

Definitely love Philstrom's speed, tenacity... any loose pucks he is chasing after them 100 mph. I wish more players would play as hard. But we have plenty of vets who can miss a wide open net Well someone is going down probably when Nichol comes back, I guess we'll see who Trotz thinks it should be.

Disappointing loss but alas.

Testify would love to hear how the game was from your perspective.
