With the Devils win on Saturday, they tied us in points with the same number of games played but have 3 more wins. That puts us in 6th. The Pens have made it back into 8th but they have a couple games in hand.

Actually no. The Flyers and the Devils both have two games in hand on Pittsburgh and the Rangers. The Rangers are one point ahead, the Penguins are 7 points behind. And I wouldnt count the Pens on 8th either. The Panthers are only 1 point behind with 3 games in hand on the Pens.

I wouldnt be too worried about being 6th right now. The top of the Atlantic is very close as said and there is a big drop of 6 points between 6th and 7th in the East. But anyways, as always, we need to keep on winning.

OK...although I don't think you really disagreed with anything I said. My main point was that The Devs have essentially overtaken us, even if we're both ahead of the Rags.

I hope this doesn't come off bad, more as it serves to point out how stupid I am.

Im sitting here practicing, and Comedy Central is on and its just stand up show after stand up show. But I begin to realize every person was black.

It took me a few seconds to realize it was MLK day. Im ********. That is all.

Should I go to the gym tonight or play ice hockey? I found out that my business trip is now going to be 4 days and 3 nights and as such, I'm going to need to pack. If I go to the gym it would be around 5:30pm and my hockey game is at 10:15pm. I would need to be up around 4:30am to drive to CT to beat all that awful New York traffic.

Attn, Blackhole and Chainsaw..

Looks like I am going to come to Vancouver for the March 7th Canucks/Sharks game. Gonna stay downtown and then spend all day Friday at the River Rock Casino. What are some cool things to do downtown Friday night and all day Saturday before the game ??

Ps.

The crew I will be with are all love to get hammered and gamble.

Didn't have it off as a kid nor as an adult. Kinda fitting that obama gets inaugurated tomorrow. People have been using MLK day to completely butcher the point of his "dream" speech. And the new president and people that worship him don't understand the difference between "right" and "opportunity". Does every american have the right to go to college? NO. We have the opportunity to work hard to earn entry in the college. Does the color of your skin prevent you from being successful in america today? NO. Equality means the freedom to work hard and succeed. MLK wasn't stumping for affirmative action, he wanted race to not even be a box on the form. He didn't want a free ride to college for every black child, he wanted them to be able to go to the same school and have the same opportunity as white kids. Equality is not about favoring the minority, it's about not favoring anyone. Do we have inequality? sure, but it's by class ie, rich vs poor, not race.

Not favoring anyone is de facto inequality. On the whole, as a result of past inequalities, blacks get the **** end of the stick compared to whites if nothing is done to counter it. Perhaps it's near the end of its course, but affirmative action was and in some senses continues to be a necessary evil if we strive to have a balanced society.

The Edgewater Casino is right across the street from the arena. FYI.

If you strictly want to drink, the Shark Club is the popular hang out closest to GM Place; it's a large sports bar and many Canucks game attendees do their pre-game drinking there.

Thanks bud. Is Shark Club the one in all the Sandman hotels ? I have been to those bars, pretty cool, kind of like an Earls right ? Do you go to Casinos, is the Edgewater nice ?

No worries; I'm easily forgettable.

I don't think the Shark Club is associated with any hotels. It's not really like Earls, either. Foodwise it's what you would expect from a Sports Bar, whereas Earls is a little fancier. The Shark Club has a huge seating area spread over three sections. There are several tvs above the bar and many more scattered on the walls throughout the bar (all of the flat panel variety, of course). It's always packed on game day as it's a popular post-game hang out, as well.

I've only been to River Rock, so I can't speak to the quality of the Edgewater. River Rock is much larger, but that's about all I know.

What kind of drinking holes do you like? My favourite place downtown is The Cambie on Cambie and Cordova (Waterfront Skytrain station is on Cordova.) It's a bit of a dive, but once you have a few drinks everyone's your friend. Pitchers of Labatt's blue are $10.50. Alternatively you could go on Granville and have your pick of a ******** of bars/clubs.

This is league is so double standard, it makes my head spin.

Ovechkin knocked out Wideman with a knee...no suspension or discipline.

Shanahan just scored his first goal. On a 5 on 3, pretty nice move.

If you cared to watch the footage, you'd see it was the wrong call. Ovechkin didn't knee anybody and it was actually a legal hip check. There was nothing worth a suspension about it.

Goaltender Antero Niittymaki showed up for practice yesterday and was sent home due to illness.

I wonder if he'll be ok for the Thrashers.
