A right solid and proper period. Certainly not where the Flames want to be on the score sheet, but really that was one blip in an otherwise excellent period. They had good pressure a few times and were smart in the defensive zone. Oh and the hits just never stopped. It was a Don Cherry special. Everyone was hitting everyone else. I'm waiting on a Sarich or Regehr special, eh Marleau? I do not feel that everyone on the Flames side was fully into the game. There were a couple good lines, and everyone had good shifts, but there were certainly players who were not working as hard as they should.
The power play. I honestly don't know if they were that bad, or if the Sharks PK unit was that good. The PP was futile to put it nicely. San Jose dominated the play completely through out the entire Flame's Power Play. So much so they didn't get a single shot on net. Heck, they barely gained the zone. The penalty kill did the exact same thing to San Jose though. Solid defensive zone coverage, great battles down low and on the boards, and brilliant dump shots. And of course Lombardi and, yup you guessed it, Nystrom with the almost chances on the PK.
Moss, Glencross , and Lombardi have really been great so far. They hit the ice and the Sharks seem to pee themselves a little. Iggy has also looked hungry. Too bad his line mates are a few steps behind. And Dion may be having a not bad game thus far, but he's made a couple right proper boneheaded plays. Miikka has been magnificent. Sure the Sharks scored one minute in, but I cannot blame him for that. The Sharks came out a tad to fast and strong for the Flames, but the Flames were definitely ready after that.
