Artyukhin

Been watching the lightning flyers game and Artyukhin is a machine. The guy's definitely rough around the edges but he looks like a 250 pound hulk with St. Louis's hustle. Beats people to pucks, hits like a monster and has enough skills for conducting a puck possession game. I know it's wishful thinking, but he'd be extremely useful on the 2nd/3rd line and a second line PP for the caps.

And only 500,000 against the cap.

Flyers getting creamed, btw.

hes been playing well for a couple of weeks now.
anyone that big who can move like that is definitely worth a look at.

Not really. It seems that way but they've shown over and over again to be bad against gritty persistent teams playing defensive systems. They only have one real net crasher in Laich as well.

I remember seeing him a few years ago and liking the potential...didn't he leave and play a season in the RSL and then came back?

Brads for Artyukhin

why would the lightning trade him if he's only making 500,000 and playing well? that's my only question.

I seriously doubt they would (though you'd be hard pressed to find an organization more likely to do something stupid). I'm not sure anyone here is really saying they would. More like "It would be nice if they would."

I got a good view of him at the last Bolts game. I was immediately impressed at his size, but I thought he was soft as hell for a guy with that size.

Agreed. I didnt go to that game but saw him live in Hershey when the Bears were TB's farm team. I remember noticing his size but that he had zero grit.

Have to give something of value to get something back. I wouldn't think Brads is what Tampa Bay is looking for right now.

At the last game I had a retarded Tampa fan going "Come on Artie!" the whole game, every time he skated on the ice.

Pass.

Is that what Ryu from Street Fighter says when he does an uppercut?

Clearly, it's the sound he makes when he launches a fireball.

You know, that's not a half bad idea for the Lightning. Deal Lecavalier for payroll flexibility and an ace defender, and take on Nylander as a salary dump. He becomes a #1 center, gets a top winger in St. Louis, and plays in a system more in line with his skill set. If I were the Lightning and I was bound and determined to deal Lecavalier, that would not be a bad way to go.

If I had my druthers, I'd keep VL, but if I had been told by the bosses to make a Lecavalier deal happen, this would make some degree of sense.

Lecavalier for Markov, a good prospect, and a first rounder in 2009
Nylander for a pick?

Hell, Nylander for Halpern.

R2's one of my favorite players and he's certainly become a lot more physical. I was hoping the Panthers would've picked him up when they sent Gratton there for a pick. Now, R2 owns the Panthers when they play each other. I think if he honed his skills a bit he could be Bertuzzi-like going forward (his productive years), but that's a ways off for him, if ever.

I think Tampa would want someone a little younger if they were determined to trade Vinny.
