If vlads worth a second what is a SOLID defenceman (greg) worth? who would want him? and could we afford to trade him with our lack of deph on the current roster?

The only thing that might be a drawback is his salary and the fact that he is signed for another three seasons (althought I don't happen to think that he is grossly overpaid).

I would not trade him or Kasparaitis. They can play for that for 3 years.

His salary declines by each year. This year I think he made 5 million, then I think it goes down to 4, then 3. That might attract current teams interested in him.

deVries contract does not make him untradeable because it was frontloaded. He makes $4.2 mil this year, $3.1 mil next year, $3 mil the year after, and $2.7 mil the year after that. And the more contract Sather is willing to eat, the more he'll get in return. If eating $3 million is what it takes to get a guy like Richards, then by all means do it.

There are about 13 more players I want to see traded

Dunham
Bouchard
Purinton
Messier
Poti
Rucinsky
Barnaby
Mironov
Lacouture
Kasparitis
Hlavac
DeVries
Pushor
he isnt going to trade all of these guys

kasper is hurt so you can take him off the list
messier will not be traded he said he wont report, unless maybe to leafs so scratch him off
lacouture is young and can fill a barnaby type role he will not be traded unless we get a good offer
no one wants bouchard or pushor they are ahl fodder

so the list is
rucinsky, barnaby, and de Vries as the players teams want
mironov and poti are big maybes
hlavac, messier, dunham and purinton are unlikely to be dealt at all

so maybe we will see 5 players moved tommorrow tops 6 or 7

i like devries game and i really believe we should keep him as part of our new team outlook for next season. i dont think we should trade him for the sake of getting traded and thats why a guy like matty barnaby could also stay.

sather has done a good job getting lots of picks in the early round which he has needed to do especially to improve our prospect situration.

realistically we r not going to have a payroll like calgary or minnesota or a team like pittsburgh so he's a solid veteran who should stay

i agree on de Vries, however the fact that he has a frontloaded contract and that many ufa's will be out there next season i can see de Vries being traded, but it would have to be for an excellent return

if it was up to me i would keep de Vries, id trade these players
rucinsky
barnaby
poti
dunham (for best offer and id include cash)
hlavac
purinton (depends on the offer, id like to keep one semi heavyweight around with a young team and who knows if we will get simon back)
and mess (if mess really cares about this team and correcting the ship, go play somewhere else and get us a quality pick and prospect)

then over the summer i re-sign barnaby, simon, and rucinsky

so the vets next seaosn would be
rucinsky, holik, jagr, barnaby, simon, de Vries, and kasper
