Richards was thinking outside the box. He may have also set up Gagne in that Vokoun's timing may have been off. If I was Richards I wouldn't have tried to make a move, I'd just wrist it in the corner and give Vokoun no time to react. Oh well, the end justified the means.
now after thinking about it, it wasn't too bad of a move by Richards. If you come down slow, the goalie has to back up at the pace you come down. Then if you put on the jets, he has to start moving backwards faster. If you are the shooter you have the advantage by knowing when you are going to start moving fast, so you might be able to get around the goalie, not a bad idea by Richards if ya think about it
I had a hockey game, and didn't see any of this one. What did Richards try to pull?
Practically walked up to Vokoun with the puck and then tried a sneaky quick burst around him to the backhand. I actually liked the idea and I'm betting he may have snuk a few of them in during practise. Gagne's goal was slick.
