Maybe it's time to snap up a 32GB touch...
Any idea if things like that will go on sale?

My roommate said he saw one for $399 on the Circuit City website yesterday before it went down. That seems to be about retail.

Yea I figured those prices would remain the same.

Their customer service was probably the worst ... bunch of teenagers who don't know ****. I could be a manager in one of their stores...

Went online to see the sales, nothing. Don't really wanna travel to their stores just to see...

Why all the BB hate? I buy anything I can at BB (unless I find it cheaper somewhere else, a real rarity).

Then again, I'm an educated consumer, and I won't let them talk me into something I don't need or want.

Wonder if the prices will go down further as liquidation continues...
I was at my local CC tonight in Denver and saw similar discounts.

If it's anything like CompUSA last year, you'll see further discounts in the days and weeks ahead. I waited to the last week that a local CompUSA closed and got a 70% discount on my Toshiba laptop. I'm hoping to pickup an mp3 player in the next week or so at CC.

talk is that they're jacking the base price a bit, so their sales don't cut the bottom line much.

They're trying to liquidate, but still make a killing. General people going in there have zero clue whats a good deal and whats not. But if they think they're getting 25% off the top, it seems like a good deal.

Yup, CompUSA did the same thing last year. If you are looking for a high ticket item, the best thing to do is wait and check the store often.

Unless you're buying an expensive item, chances are you'll find it cheaper online. I bought a camera that retails for $199 for $149 no tax, no shipping online. Memory cards are dirt cheap. ect

I'll give you an example anecdote, I have more. The last straw for me was when I went to the closest Best Buy for some DDR3 desktop RAM (didn't want to wait for shipping, module in wife's PC went bad) and they had none. Zip. Zero. In fact they had hardly any RAM at all except for laptop RAM and the display was in shambles. After waiting 20 minutes to talk to a rep to see if they had any in back that they hadn't had a chance to stock yet, they informed me that that was all they had (the associate didn't check the back or any computers for inventory, maybe he didn't have to, but he didn't even fake any effort). I would have ended up having to drive 10 extra miles in rush-hour Seattle traffic to go to Fry's, so instead I just went home and ordered from Newegg.

I know they have some decent stores, but the only one near me sucks. Hard.

That's correct. Their profit margins come from accessories and extra warranties. The HDTV's themselves don't have much profit margin.

The Marketplace episode also makes the great point that you're better off getting your HDMI cables online at a place like monoprice.com, instead of buying 10 times more at the store.

I got this nifty program for less than two dollars there today, I am loving it.

I am going to wait awhile before I consider buying anything large there since the deals arent anything special at this point. Ill take my chances when everything is picked over and much larger discounts to get what I want.

I usually tell the staff to get lost (in a nice way... sort of) whenever they come near me. Maybe that's why I don't have these problems.

Also, I just like to point out that in the HDMI video there, the HDMI cable it also going through an HDMI to DVI adapter. I laughed.

Why? A DVI signal is electrically compatible with an HDMI video signal; no signal conversion needs to take place when an adapter is used, so no loss in video quality occurs.

DVI = HDMI - (Sound + HDCP)

Maybe, it just looks dodgy to me. You'd think they'd be able to actually use some sort of HDMI port for their tests.

I used to work at Compusa a few years back, its true that their is very little margin in computers, as little as $50 in laptops, but as far as TV's they average 20-30%, we listed Sony TV's usually 40% higher than store cost, there is tons of margin in TV's

It is very sad that Best Buy is that last Big Chain around, Just the other day I went into the local BB with $2000 in my pocket with the intentions of Buying a TV, I stood there for 30 mins, not one sales person approched me, I've always like the CC employees better than BB

Just because they aren't on commission doesn't make it ok, we weren't on commission at compusa, we helped people (well at my store anyways). Its fine though if the trend continues more and more people are buying big box items online, and they will follow the path of the other stores that have closed.

Horrible management, and stupid employees then.

I work at a Best Buy, and unless I'm with a customer, if I see someone standing around looking like they need help in my department, or in departments near mine, I'll go up to them.

You're a different breed, then. Any time I go to Best Buy and need help finding something or have a question, there's nobody to be found.

Start playing with the menus of all the TVs, and screwing up the pictures as much as possible, then. I imagine someone would go see you quickly enough.
