Van-mtl

To Vancouver:
Andrei Markov- GP:43, G:7, A:27,P:34, +12 Contract: Signed for 2 years after 08/09 at $5.75m
Francis Boullion- GP:38, G:3, A:3, P:3, +4 Contract: UFA After 08/09 makes $1.875m in 08/09
Total Salary: $7.625m

To Montreal:
Kevin Bieksa- GP:37, G:5, A:17, P:22, -5 Contract: Signed for 2 years after 08/09 for $3.75m
Alexander Edler- GP:44, G:3, A:14, P:17, +4 Contract: Signed for 4 years after 08/09 for $3.25m
2009 2nd Round Pick
Total Salary: $7.00m

Why:
MONTREAL: Montreal needs some depth in there top 4 and they get it from 2 young dmen who have plenty of potential and signed to reasonable contracts and they get a high pick in a deep draft.

VANCOUVER: Vancouver needs a dman who can move the puck not only on the pp but also on even strength and Markov is exactly that. He will help remedy those sloppy mistakes in our deensive end. Boullion is included to provide depth on defense.

Markov is our #1 defenseman, we're not gonna let him go unless another #1 comes back.

why would the Canucks trade their best dman and one of their 3 core pieces (along with Kesler and that goalie dude)? shouldnt they be adding to that core?

not that Markov isnt a fantastic dman, just that there is no reason to move Bieksa.

Montreal needs a BIG SHOT on their D. I'm pretty sure they're also interested in another puck moving D so trading their primary man probably won't go over well with most fans. Can't see Montreal doing this (but I have been shell shocked with some moves made by Gainey's moves in the past!)

not even close. If Markov is leaving the habs Ohlund would have to go back also along with Bieksa, and it probably still would'nt be enough.

Why does Vancouver do this? Not trying to be cruel but that's a big prospect return!

Bieksa > Ohlund ...imesho

but still not something either team would consider.

Markov is not going anywhere anytime soon. He's signed to a reasonable contract, he's a premier d-man in the NHL and without him, we can't win a game. He's way more valuable to Montreal than any GM would be willing to offer for him.

The Habs are more likely to trade Price than they are Markov.

Markov and Boullion are better than Bieksa and Edler , the second rounder does nothing to change that . Huge no from me and i really like Bieksa , but neither of those guys can provide what Markov brings night in and night out , if they could you wouldn't be making this proposal .

Markov and Price are the most untouchable Players in Montreal.
Markov is franchise d. while Price is soon to be(if not already) is franchise goalie for Motreal.

markov is one of the top 10 dmen in the NHL. this is not going to happen.

not a chance. not even close. mtl doesn't need depth dmen. have you looked at their prospects? their LOADED at D.

they need a stay at home guy for the playoffs, that's it.

as some have mentioned, he's as untouchable as price. his rumors to TB for vinny are ludicrous

Habs don't want to move Markov for Lecavalier, why would they move Markov for Bieksa?

I think Markov is nearly untouchable. Teams would have to ridicolously overpay for him.

Markov is the Habs best and most important player and their MVP. It would take alot to pry him out of Montreal, and the above offer doesn't do it. The Habs would be a weaker team if they did that deal.

Would be interested in making a deal for a Vancouver d-man who could play on the PP, but it would be via our forward depth.

You do realize that his maximum ceiling is Markov type defenceman...

Keep Edler, we got Subban...
