I really miss Pride. The days when Chute Boxe were feared. Those were the days.

Both Shogun and Chuck haven't been impressive lately, so it could be a boring fight.

But in my honest opinion, even if BOTH fighters show up like they were in their primes..I still think Chuck will get KTFO.
I never thought Chuck was good overall. I think he could dominate any wrestler that had poor/average striking.
But versus any good striker, he didn't stand a chance.

So I agree, Shogun would have manhandled Liddell back in the days.
I still feel like he'll win anyways.

Any news on stuff like that going on that anyone has heard about?
I think I saw today at HMV that Clay Guida, Goulet, and Valasquez are doing a signing Friday night.

Not sure if this is the site you are referring to, but I go here all the time to watch different fights. They always post all UFC bouts a couple of hours after they air on pay-per-view. How they have not been sued yet is beyond me...

I heard they were going to have Kiosk's setup with UFC Undisputed 2009 (Videogame) for people to play. No idea where though.

Anything else happening around town?

I wonder if Laraque will be attending

I've seen a few celebs attend UFC events in the past, Laraque as a fighter should definitely be there

I was wondering if any of you guys could help me out, I got tickets to UFC and I am taking the train into Montreal from Toronto. I was wondering what a good hotel close to the bell centre was and how far that area is from the train station, sorry I have never been to Montreal and kind of have to rush this trip so any help is greatly appreciated.

Closest big name hotels to Bell Centre are (I'm pretty sure) the Marriott, the Sheraton and Hilton. Looks like Sheraton is sold out, and Marriott and Hilton have rooms starting at like $250. There are tons of hotels though.

Best bet is hit up Google Maps, search for Bell Centre, and then search for hotels close by.

Train station is only like a 10 minute walk to the arena.

Take a look at the first page of this thread. It's a sticky thread at the top of our board called "What to do in Montreal"

You'll see some recommended hotels, restaurants, etc...check it out.

On PPV yes. However, the under card was supposed to start at 8 but they are now starting it at 7h30.

Heads up!

My picks for tonight :

Anderson Silva vs Thales Leites

Not a lot of people gives Leites a chance and rightfully so. The only way can take this fight is by submission if it goes to the ground but Silva will just pick him apart before that. Silva by KO/TKO

Chuck Liddell vs Mauricio Rua

I think Chuck will be pumped tonight knowing that he may be one loss away from retirement. He will also be a huge crowd favorite in Montreal. Also , Shogun hasn't been very impressive in his last 2 fights even if he won against Coleman.

Antoni Hardonk vs Cheick Kongo

This will most likely stay on the feet and Kongo should take this via superior striking.

Steve Cantwell vs Luiz Arthur Cane

Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Brian Stann

I also hope they will show the Loiseau fight if they need some fillers on the PPV. The Crow via elbows of death

Chuck's only hope for Victory is if Shogun comes in as bad a shape as he was vs Coleman. That was embarrassing, not being able to clearly finish a gazed out, dazed 45yo that hadn't fought for 3years was humiliating.

Shogun had a lot of injuries the past years, so I understand why he hasn't come back to the guy he once was. Hopefully he gets back to that form tonight.

Chuck sucks so I hope he loses. I never liked him and always felt like the UFC just banked on him because he was marketable. They made him fight wrestler after wrestler that had no stand up skills.
The only time he faced someone with good stand up skills, his corner had to throw in the towel (Rampage in Pride). He was never that good, just fortunate to fight in a time where there was only wrestlers in his division. I will admit he had great wrestling skills most noticeably his sprawls and takedown defense. But put him vs a stand up fighter and his chances drop considerately.

As for Anderson Silva, he is obviously the favorite by far but I wouldn't be surprised to see him lose his title soon. Not because there are better fighters. I think he's in a league of his zone in that division as of today. But I feel he's become more cocky and I was far from impressed when he faced Coté. He'll lose by undertraining and being overconfident. Will it be tonight??..I don't think so, but whenever it will be, I won't be surprised.
