Richards Shootout move

well guess what, max lapierre won the game in the shootout tonight for montreal with a move that was very similar to what richards tried to do.

http://watch.tsn.ca/nhl/clip130806#clip130806

On top of that, i think richards is getting credited as the "inventor" of the move

Personally, I just find it funny hows he's getting trashed for trying it. If he had scored everyone would be speaking differently about it. Maybe to satisfy everybody he shouldve just taken a shot and missed and stayed ordinary.

i say **** that. Cannon is the man.

Now that other players are trying it what do you guys have to say about THAT? Maybe it wasn't such a "stupid attempt" afterall...

I don't really see any method being different than any other. It looked absurd but I don't think there was inherently a lower chance of him scoring on it than anything else he's done, and that would be my only issue.

It's just something a little different to try and catch the keep off gaurd. I don't see why everyone was so up in arms about it. It wasn't half as bad as hartnells attempt.

At least Richards showed he is willing to try and do anything he can to try and win the game, and win a blasted shootout. I have no problem with it at all. As long as hes uses it once in a blue moon. I mean he almost had vokoun beat lol.

it is good that everyone has such an open mind in this thread. the Stevens doesn't take shootout serious thread was ripping this team apart. I thought the move was different. The way laperriere did it was better though. He sped up soon and really moved his body getting the goalie to follow him not the puck. I bet we see it more though. I think we should look at using different guys on the shootout, like lupul upshall and knuble to start. Sometimes a different look is better than a different move.

I don't really see what's embarrassing about trying something that in theory is a good idea. A change of speed one on one is never a bad idea. What would you have said if he scored?

People are yelling that "Everyone hear is yelling at Mike for what he did." If anything I maybe see 2-3 people that didnt like it. Other then that everyone else pretty much agrees that it was something new, and it could have easily worked.

I don't think people said "F u richards, u idiot" It was more like "what the f r u doing richards"

People were more suprised then angry. In the GDT people just say what comes to there mind.

I liked it. The SO are here to stay, given that Richards has another 10-15 years of SOs id like him to experiment now and find stuff that works.

It was hilarious, and if it had worked it would have been 10X as hilarious. If you didn't like it, you have no soul.

Ok, so I'm being hard on him, but you have to admit, had it been another player on another team you would have laughed your head off.

I would rather watch Scotty put his head down, loose the puck in his skates and barrel into the goalie vs the Richards waltz..
