Would you make this trade?

Would you make this trade if you were the rangers? Now don't answer this for the blackhawks but only for the rangers.

Would the rangers accept a trade for henrik, gomez and drury

if they got offered Kane and Toews

No they shouldn't because then they would be screwed for years to come because they wouldn't have a goalie. It's nice to get Toews and Kane but it means nothing if your starter is Valiquette.

Yes. Losing Hank is massive, but the Rangers aren't going to win a cup with their current configuration, and this takes two albatrosses off the books while adding young studs. I'd pull the trigger and start drafting goalies.

I've gotta think the other posters are right, dumping Gomez and Drury for Kane and Toews is such a huge benefit. Losing Henrik really hurts but I'd still have to do it.

um realli? anyone. Valli for instance. There are so many capable goalies in this league that come from no where and who are good. Just look at teams around the league and there goalies and whos getting 40 saves a night and shutouts. Heck the devils can't lose with weekes and clemmenson. And valli's much better than clemmer.

I definitely stopped and thought about it as soon as I saw Lunqvist (sic) in the trade. It's not easy giving up a goalie of that caliber for sure. At the same time however, it clears a lot of cap space for them, and Kane and Toews aren't exactly scrubs, so I eventually put yes.

I'm not a Rangers fan, of course, by that's my take.

I would do it, if Gomez and Drury were under different contract situations then it would probably be a different story.

Out of curiosity, what lead to this thread?

This doesn't work under the cap. Chicago loses about $7 mil and is expected to take on salary of about $21 mil. Chicago would then have 3 starting goalies paid around $6-7 mil each, NY would have to receive Khabi or Huet in return. And even if Chicago did trade one of their goalies, they would still be over the cap.

no i meant how it would help the rangers. Dont view this trade from chiacgo's perspective because they would hang up the phone and hire a hit man right away.

In a second I would make that trade if I were a Rangers fan. Henrik is great and he could be a Vezina winner someday but Kane and Toews are are on pace for around 70 and 80 points respectively in their 2nd season in the league. I think Kane is a 100pt player in the making and Toews is going to be a phenomenal leader. You could build a championship team around those two.

I wouldn't do it 'cause the Rangers should have to search a goaltender after that, and it's not everyday that you can have someone like Lundqvist.

No, because Lundqvist is to good to give up. If a goalie was coming back then maybe I would do it.

I'm a Flames fan, but if I were the Rangers' GM I would do it. Lundqvist is awesome but they're not going anywhere with him and Gomez and Drury. Definitely yes if the Rangers have a good goaltending prospect in the system.

I wouldn't do it from the Rangers POV. We in STL know exactly how hard it is to find an upper-echelon goalie...our Cup chances came and went because there was always a (5-) hole on the back-end. Unless Toews or Kane plays goalie, the cost to upgrade (in terms of salary and upside) from Drury & Gomez to Toews & Kane is not worth Henrik.

haha ok sure. Go with Valiquette. We'll see how good he is come playoff time or if he can even get the team to the playoffs.

Well.. Losing a top3 goalie in the league to get 2 promising youngster will perhaps some day lead to something good but it will take some time. Henrik is the sole reason the rangers is doing so well they are this season and lets face it, as good as Toews and Kane are they are not close to Drury and Gomez defensively. Add that to the fact losing a topgoalie, awkward defense.. I dont see rangers winning many games this year and a few years to come.

No. IMO.
