Yup, Ovy was terrible in the fastest skater competition last year... at least I think it was last year. I don't know who will win, but it won't be Ovy.

Kovalchuk. Not a homer pick either. His acceleration and top speed are higher than Ovie's.

It's goal line to blue line now, so it's more best acceleration vs. the old method's best power through the turn.
And Campbell got crushed last year.
By my eye, Kovalchuk was the fastest guy by a hair last year, although Horcoff won (if you saw it, you know what I mean).

Marleau, because I'm a raging homer.

I voted Ovechkin but I say it'll be a tossup between him and Kovalchuk

Too bad Dandenault has a broken arm or else us Montreal fans could have voted him in as a ringer for this competition.

Yeah, I hate this new fastest skater comp. It's all acceleration, and less about top speed and ability to accelerate and maintain speed through the turns.
I'd pick Kovalchuk or Marleau for this. If it were the old competition, it would probably be Campbell or Niedermayer as my picks.
I think Parise and Kane could surprise some people if they compete.

I LOVE how my boy Kovalchuk is getting this mad respect! He clearly won it last year but they ****ed up on it.

Apparently Jeff Carter is favoured over the field combined in this event. Never knew he was so fast
