I think that people are jumping to conclusions too much here. Halak has been far from stellar out there and what's to say that Denis would have lost? He may have played like Halak has and be bailed out by our offense... food for thoughts.

Denis is terrible, I'd rather a mediocre Halak play so he can develop properly than a goalie who will never play in the nhl ever again/

Whitesnake going to bat for Lacasse?

What's next, Erik Kostitsyn becoming Erika Higgins?

Well, he's better keep playing good at Hamilton!
He may be demoted to Cincy with Desjardins being back from injury.

Lacasse is dominating the AHL..

No one here is saying that Denis should have played the majority of the games, not even splitting the games with Halak here. Some are saying that we should have given him ONE GAME as Halak was far from spectacular out there.

No need for anyone to get their panties in a knot here, we're all glad that Price is back!

why is this a Denis bashing thread?

He played well in his AHL stint so far, does he need to DOMINATE the AHL in order to get a back-up start?

Halak has been less than spectacular and has only had every start because they were worried if they benched him, what little confidence he had, would be gone.

Denis has done exactly what has been asked of him and more.

Ona side note, Carey!!! WOOO

Yes, that's what's expected of a veteran in the NHL who after actually falling appart wants to come back in the league.

Denis has won 14 of the 21 games that he is the goalie of record in Hamilton.

Carey Price has won 16 of the 25 games that he is the goalie of record in Montreal.

So....... if Denis is terrible.......... ???

Going to bat....let's just say I'm going for a sacrifice fly than a homerun....as far as the latter is concerned, no chance in hell but I guess that's the difference here, some are able to eat crown, some can't. World isn't perfect....

Still, I already start to praise my boy Ryan White so it's not like I haven't had any practice proving how wrong I could be....Still you have to praise those 2 guys right now for what they've accomplished so far.

I just don't get it...do people here really hate Halak that much?

The guy is a promising young goalie who has excelled at every level. Unfortunately for him he's behind someone even better on our roster, but when Price goes down Halak should get every start as long as he's not fatigued. You don't keep a guy like him as a back-up and then make him split the time with a has-been once an opportunity finally presents itself.

Halak hasn't been great this year, but it's not like he's been terrible either. We just completed our best stretch of the season and that's with him in goal. He had a few rough games in there, but he was also excellent in a few as well. There was absolutely no reason to start Denis, none at all.

Take everything you know from people bashing Higgins and Latendresse and apply it to Halak.

Some people really thought that Halak could be as good, if not better than Carey Price, and judged him by this. Since he's playing more like a 1B Goaltender, he's now ****** and worthless.

Not meeting expectations in Montreal means you were never good in the first place.

Yes, so he was performing well...so your point is invalid.

And when your career falters in the NHL, the point is to start from scratch in the AHL. And if he was good enough for Gainey to take a chance on, then its good in my books.

Usually the other teams play their backup/callups in Montreal and they burn us. No need for the Habs to burn themselves by putting in the third string keeper just for ***** and giggles.

You're reading too much into it. I don't remember anyone bashing Halak in this thread. Stating that he's been ordinary is only stating a fact, not a dislike for the guy. What some of us are saying is that because he wasn't lights out, it would have been nice to see Denis start ONE game. No big deal here...
